Sanford Arms was such a flop, the producers carried on as if that never happened when Sanford came back in 1980. I would have loved to see John Earl's character kept as a younger kid for Fred to bounce off of to play along with Cal.

They could have mentioned Donna in a line or two when he first met Evelyn as one of his customers as, well, I tried to move on but it didn't work out as I wanted marriage, she just wanted a long term relationship and kept it moving. Remember Good Times didn't even mention Carl when Florida came back in the final season
