I don't think that she was ever meant to be a significant character.

Eleanor Audley had only one Green Acres appearance after 1967. She went on to My Three Sons beginning with the 1969 season, where she played Barbara's mother.

I liked her, it would have been funny if Lisa's mom came in and liked Oliver better than her.

They probably just ran out of ideas for her. I did like her, but I do think that I could easily grow tired of her character if she had a lot more appearences of the show.

Well there was only so much you could do with her character since she was not living in Hooterville.

Eleanor Audley who played the part of Oliver's mother was born in late 1905 and Eddie Albert was born in early 1906, interesting casting.

Grren Acres is my favorite show of all time by a country mile. Wish they would put out seasons 4, 5 and 6 on DVD.

I wish they would too! The age difference btween Eleanor and Eddie reminds me of Bea & Estele on Golden Girls. Estele was months younger than Bea!

I always thought Audley & Albert looked more like husband & wife. Seeing as how they were only a year apart in age, totally makes sense.

I loved Eleanor Audley. She was one of those great character actresses of her time.

LOL, where as they could have almost been old enough to play Lisa's parents.

Eleanor Audley rocks! She was teriffic as Mother Douglas. I wish she had made more appearances in the series. Her reactions to the situations she encountered when visiting Hooterville in the first season were priceless!

That's what brought me here, Eddie Albert was already in his 60s on Green Acres but I suppose the Oliver character is /supposed/ to be a lot younger.

Just another surreal element on a completely surreal show... in the episode I watched tonight, Oliver's doctor, the one who delivered him, looks no older than Oliver himself.

And there was apparently no effort to make Eleanor Audley look the age se must be as Oliver's mother... she'd have be in her eighties, unless she was a teenager when Oliver was born.

I thought Lisa's mother treated Oliver with more respect than his own mother... I remember she had a heart-felt talk with him at the end of the episode she was in
