DVD sale at Wal-Mart

I don't know if this is all Wal-Marts, but I was just in Wal-Mart and noticed a TV DVD sale they were having to celebrate African American TV stars. I saw all seasons that are out so far of the Jeffersons, Good Times, Sanford & Son, What's Happenning, That's My Mama & Diff'rent Strokes for $13 each. I may pick up season 3 of Good Times & maybe season 1 of What's Happenning Now. Too bad they were out of Sanford & Son S1.

Cool!! I was planning to go to Wal-mart anyway tomorrow and maybe I can add to my Jeffersons DVDs.

I didn't know what that was for a moment. All I thought when I first came upon it in the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Simpsonville was, are they now having a permanent television disc section pertaining to black series? I had thought about getting at least one season's worth of "What's Happening," but I was unsure about it.

The Walmart by me always has those shows priced at $13. They usually have 2 seasons each of Good Times, The Jeffersons, Sanford and Son, etc. in stock, listed at $13.

I was at Wal Mart last weekend and got The Incredible Hulk seasons 1 and 2 for 19.99 which also included a free movie ticket (in each box set) to see the new Hulk movie

Wow, that's a great deal. A movie ticket nowadays is like $8 or $9, so that really was a great deal. Walmart is usually great on their prices.

I, unfortunately, live in an extremely whitebread part of Wisconsin. We don't have ANY of those shows in stock in our local WalMart. We have Roseanne, Gilligan's Island, Mad About You....

bmasters9, I live down in Laurens (a very black area) and they have all of the sets of The Jeffersons that have been released, Sanford and Son, Thats My Mama, Good Times, What's Happening entire series, and all of the Diff'rent Strokes that have been released. All $13. They have tons of them all lined up on an outside shelf. They also had Bewitched season 6, a Love Boat set, and the latest season of Cheers.

Thanks for the tip, 60s70s80stvfan. When I was at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Simpsonville, all they had there was the second season's worth of "WH." They did, however, have the first one or two seasons' worth of "Diff'rent Strokes," I believe, as well as six seasons worth of "The Jeffersons." I forbore purchasing any, however, as I didn't want to purchase something only to be unable to enjoy it (and, generally, I have been fully able to enjoy the television disc purchases that I have made so far). And besides, I didn't realize that you live in Laurens; I've been through there several times when I traveled with my father (who then was a driver for Wal-Mart based out of the Laurens distribution center); he went through there a lot of times to go to another Wal-Mart DC in Douglas, GA.

Oh, and by the way, one thing-- was I in error in the last post when I referred to "WH," "Diff'rent Strokes," and other series of that ilk as "black series"? I'm getting the feeling that I should have referred to those series as "series with African-American actors."

That's kind of how it is with everything though. Cars, games, etc. When they first come out they're expensive. After they've been around awhile and aren't as popular the price goes down.

I look at it this way: if it's something I really want I'll buy it when it first comes out. If it's something that can wait, I wait and wait for the price to go down.

I was at Wal-Mart earlier today and they had some on sale for $13 but all they had were Gilligan's Island season 2, Reno 911, The Fall Guy and a few others that I can't recall right now.

I went and saw The Incredible Hulk movie with my free coupon (8.50 cash value) and the Theatre raised the ticket prices to 8.75 :-(
The movie wasnt very good :-( hackneyed, snoozefest comes to mind

I bought these when they first came to dvd, all I really need is What's Happening Now season 1. I wasn't sure about it at first, but the price seems right now.
