Default TPIR Questions For mriggles!

Do you know if there will be any changes made to the set or to the way Drew does the show when the new season starts in September?

Do you what the season average was for the Price is Right this season? Did ratings go up or down by the end of the season, and is CBS happy with how Drew is doing?

Well I think absolutely anything is possible.... A new set, new rules, anything is possible for season 37. The reason I say this is I just found out from my friend in hollywood that longtime producer roger dobkowitz has been let go. Trust me when I say this everyone, it was Roger who kept the show on its current path for season 36. Fremantle media wanted to change almost everything about the show, the set the games...you name it. Our friend Roger fought till he had no breath in his body to keep the price is right from spiraling out of control.

They just concluded filming on season 36 this week & the season finale will air shortly, I believe on July 17th.

Season 37 will begin taping on July 20th & will have a traditional mid september launch.

I will keep you all up to date on the latest as I hear it, but by no means am I a confident boy going into season 37 now that the dob is gone.

The season as a whole tailed off about 10% for the season, which in all honesty is not bad, it started off like a house of fire in drews first week then the bottom fell out quickly & it went thru bad months in november & december, then something happened when they made those primetime specials, more people got introduced to him as the host & the show climbed up a bit & maintained the ratings for the season, but the first month of the season was tough to climb out of. The primetime shows easily won their time slots (even in repeats)..the show overall did alot better than I thought it would, but now all is up in the air with roger dobkowitz getting let go.

I have not heard anything more on the show going on tour since early this season. I last spoke to roger about that subject earlier this year & he said def not in season 36 & probably not until mid season 37 at the earliest. Now that he is gone I have no idea what they will do. I will contact my friend in hollywood this week & see what I can uncover

Great information!!! Thanks!

In your opinion, what do you think is the worst case senario for TPIR with the recent let go of Roger Dobkowitz?

Ratings are down all across television this season, especially in daytime. Ratings being off for TPIR shouldn't be a problem at all, considering Bob Barker has retired and the show is in it's 37th season. But, seems to me like CBS and Fremantle are making the ratings problem more that it really is. I just hope someone will fight for this show. Knowing Drew Carey, I'm sure he'll stand in the way and try to keep things the way they are. Maybe Bob himself could even come back and stop Fremantle from what they want to do to the set and the show itself.

At this point I would say the price is right with an american idol type look, that was the plan before Roger stepped in last year & i saw some of the designs for the set they were planning for this season (36) My god I can't imagine the show without the doors, without models, without actual prizes on the stage & a " new contestants row" Let me just say if they use the plans they were going to use last year... I will never ever watch the show again & it will become the laughing stock of television...

Bob will not get involved in this, that much I assure you. He has no involvement in the show anymore. Drew Carey from what I understand is not at all happy about this, I will find out more info as we go along here

I am completely with you on this one, mriggles, the show will be dead without the set we all know an love. I couldn't imagine the Price is Right without the classic designs, the sliding doors, contestants row, the retro look. And I'm so glad to hear Drew isn't happy with this. The fact that he's upset just makes him a better host - I hope he can do someting about it.

Wow! Those are some powerful comments!!! Now you got me worried! I hope they don't mess up the show with their new ideas.
