Cool Tim Molnar - Your thoughts

Does anyone remember the case of Tim Molnar? He was the young man (I think he was around nineteen) who disappeared from Florida and withdrew all but $10 from his savings account, which says to me that he had intentions to return someday. But the years rolled by, and no one in his family ever seen or heard from him again. A few years after his disappearance a family member died and left him money in their will, so the family has been trying to locate him. I heard that a few years back an unidentified murder victim was found in Wisconsin, and after DNA testing they found it to be Tim's body! Does anyone know anything further on this case? What are your thoughts? BTW, I missed you guys; I am back after a little hiatus, lost my job a few months back and am just starting to get back on my feet again!

Welcome back! Yes that is a very interesting case. UM did update the story and said the remains were his. I believe they were found in Wisconsin and Tim originally left from Florida! Its hard to say whether or not Tim met with foul play, committed suicide or died of exposure. It seems he may have been hitchhiking which of course is very dangerous so there's a possibility he was murdered. I do think that if he were murdered however the person would have made some attempt to hide the body (like burying it or covering it with something) and from my understanding it wasn't hidden. However the fact that he left everything and his family and took off (as it appears he did) would indicate he was probably depressed and therefore I think suicide or dying of exposure out there is a bit more likely.

Tim was never depressed! I was reminded of Tim today by some old friends on Facebook. I knew Tim well back in the early 80's. I moved to New York in 1983 just a few months before he went missing. I had no idea he had gone missing until 2001 when I saw a UM rerun. I was shocked to say the least as he was an almost daily fixture at my apartment back then. Tim was a pretty happy guy. He did like to party. If anything, his death had something to do with how hard he partied. He was close to his family. Not suicidal. Ever.
