Actress Jamie Lynn Spears, 17, and her fiancé Casey Aldridge, 19, have welcomed their first child. Daughter Maddie Briann Aldridge was born around 9:30 am CST at Mississippi Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS. Jamie Lynn did not have a c-section, as other outlets have reported; however, she was induced. A source tells People.com,

Just the family was there, everyone is healthy and happy.

The pregnancy was announced in December, with Jamie Lynn confirming the sex in May.

I'm giving Jamie the benefit of the doubt. She seems to have a good head on her shoulders and after seeing what her sister went through...I have a feeling she'll do just fine. Only time will tell.

Congrats to Jamie Lynn... I seriously hope that her mom won't have her on the cover of OK in 2 weeks to "debut" the baby.

The baby has been named Maddie Briann btw.

I don't see her as the stereotypical teenage mother. Unlike most of them, Jamie Lynn actually has the money to support the child (or hire a nanny to do it.)
My point is that she's a special case. Although she's too young to know the emotional trials a baby can have on a person, she'll learn that quickly (hopefully) and will be a great mom. I just hope she has a LOT of help from her own mother these first few months.
