Two seasons, although the first season consisted of only 6 episodes in March-April of 1979.

Which was 27 and a half episodes too much.

This was one of the worst ideas for a spin-off. 'The Roper's were great as second-bananas, but a whole show around them with totally unappealing supporting cast members?

Bad, bad, bad.

It would have lasted longer if they kept it next to three's company on tuesday nights because it would have been like watching a hour of three's company every week

ABC managed to keep Happy Days and Laverne and Shirely together for 3 years but for some reason they didn't want to do it at all with Three's Company and the Ropers

It would have been best to keep them on "Three's Company", as a thirty minute sitcom. They could have added 'Mr. Furley' as a neighbor (as the lady-killing swinging' senior citizen), and kept the Ropers as the landlords. The fun they could have had with Furley and the Ropers (especially Helen) as well as 'the kids'. The six of them would have been great together each week (get rid of 'Larry').

They should have made the Reagle Beagle apart ofthe Ropers outside travels too. They didn't necessarily have to run into jack and the girls but still could have had a three's company feel

The need to put those 28 episodes on DVD! This was definitely a funny show and better than the crap they put out today!

I agree that "The Ropers" could have been a lot better. Still, I loved several of the ep's...and God knows there were worse shows made!The network seperated them because they thought that "The Ropers" was such a fat hit, that it could survive against "CHiPs"! Rather than have a solid BLOCK, they sought to spread out their hit shows. It didn't work.

Whether it's 3 shows or six, it still counts as a (albeit short) first season. After all, "Three's Company" had only six ep's for it's first season. It's a technicality, but it's true. I do agree however, that ONE season seems more like it. But it is indeed two seasons.

The show lost a lot of the TC viewers when the Ropers were in a suburban area and no young people were on the set but a 4 year old boy. That 15-35 crowd went BYE-BYE

I was a big TC fan but when the Ropers moved opposite Chips, I went with Chips. They should have left it after TC until it was more established.
