Default Wondering about TBS....

Does anyone know if Engvall, My Boys, etc. do better in ratings than BTY did? If not, could TBS be a home for BTY? (Might be too costly...)

I think both TBS sitcoms usually do 3-4 million when airing new episodes on TBS. If they could find a way to cut the costs of BTY down, I wouldn't mind watching it on TBS either!

And to think that Bill Engvall show had a special airing on CBS last week on Monday at 8:00 with over 6 million viewers and a 2.4 (I think) in the demos.

My boys received mixed reviews this season.

I don't keep up with ratings numbers, but wasn't BTY doing better than all of this?

Way better - not positive, but I believe BTY had a season average of about 7.5 million viewers.

And those numbers are disappointing. Not so much for My Boys, because that show really never deserved to come back in the first place, but for Bill Engvall, I was almost hoping for more. It should definitely be doing over 3 million, but I guess it was up against tough competition.

Maybe CBS will give it a try - it did do pretty well for them.

Back to You averaged 6.54 million for the season for #109 in the rankings.

Bill Engvall Show did great on CBS. 6.42 million for an encore is great. It did better than the usual Big Bang Theory repeat and Mother did not build on it as it always does with Bang...interesting indeed.

Are you sure BTY only averaged 6.54? That seems way too low for this show - it only went under 7 million viewers 4 times out of 14 episodes - every other episode was for the most part well above 7 million, plus it had the 2 post-Idol episodes with 12.15 million.

That's what I see listed, repeats count remember. If repeats didn't count, Grey's Anatomy or CSI would have been the #1 scripted show this season, but Desperate Housewives took that honor this year because it didn't repeat much. Not sure if the two special post-Idol airings counted in its ranking because they were "one-time-only" airings.

Repeats would definitely hurt the show - the show was repeated 5 or 6 times during the fall, and it only got around 5 million each time, probably what brought it down. That average definitely doesn't make the show look good, though.

Here are the ratings for EACH airing:

9.48, 7.47, 6.58, 6.62, 7.06, 5.26R, 6.45, 7.31, 5.27R, 5.53R, 4.19R, 4.63R, 4.57R/3.87R, 12.15OT-1, 12.15OT-2, 7.11, 7.26, 7.12, 6.95, 7.06

9.48 million for the pilot did not count in the season ratings because it aired the week before the start of the 2007-08 season. The two OT airings after Idol probably didn't count either because it wasn't a set time slot. Everything else you can add up and average together and it'll come out to 6.54 million or so. R is of course the repeats and they do count.

CBS should do a deal to air one or both unaired episodes and see how it/they do, like they did with Engvall (only these would be new).

I really don't understand the reason for unaired eps. I wonder if they are pre-strike. If so, I REALLY don't understand...

Weird - not including the 2 post-Idol airings ir the pilot, I got an average of 6.12. With the 2 post-Idol airings, I got 6.73. Does someone else want to do the math, because it just doesn't add up for me-LOL.

If the highest ratings didn't count then what's the point really...lol..

Bottom line, considering the strike, long and repetitive hiatuses and different time slots, the show did decent ratings IMO !!!

I'd LOVE that.... should we do a petition ....where do I sign

One of the episodes is pre-strike. Fox held 3 pre-strike episodes to air them after American Idol but it ended up airing only two. After they came back from the strike imposed hiatus they were supposed to shoot 8 episodes (5 to air in spring and 3 in Fall) but ended shooting only 7 because of the early cancelation. The five post strike episodes that were aired in April/May were also out of order...Do't ask why....
