Default FOL v. Square Pegs

I can't keep them straight; I remember liking them both as kids, and now I want to get their DVDS from Blockbuster.

Which was which ? thanks !

As a superfan of both shows, I think I can help you out a little here.

The Facts of Life ran on NBC from 1979 to 1988 and was a spin-off of Diff'rent Strokes in which Charlotte Rae played Phillip Drummund's live in housekeeper Mrs. Edna Garrett. On FOL, Mrs. Garrett plays sort of the the role of housemother to four young girls (Lisa Whelchel as Blair, Nancy McKeon as Jo, Kim Fields as Tootie and Mindy Cohn as Natalie), Even though Rae is the official star of the show, for me and many others it was Lisa and Nancy who were the show's real stars.

Square Pegs ran on CBS for only a single season, but what a season! A young Sarah Jessica Parker and Amy Linker play Patty and Lauren, two high school freshman who weekly try to come up with some way in which they can rise up the ladder of popularity-which never works. One of the most realistic high school shows ever, the series also starred Jami Gertz as the ultra peppy Muffy Tepperman, the late Merritt Butrick (who played Admrial Kirk's son in Star Trek II and III) plays the New Wave rocker Johnny Slash and Tracy Nalson is spoiled rich girl Jennifer.

Square Pegs

Music written by and performed by The Waitresses

Square pegs, square pegs. Square, square pegs
Always never quite right.
I’d like it if they liked us, but I don’t think they like us.
So tell me where’s the party, and how come we weren’t invited?
One size does not fit all.

Don’t wanna wear my glasses, I have to wear my glasses.
Why are we wearing this year what they were wearing last year?
Yeah, I’d be cuter without gum in my braces.
I hope the whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts.

She said that she was, but we know she isn’t
And she said that she would but he hasn’t asked her.

He did - and we know it. But with whom? We can't guess it.
And they think that we’re the.

Square pegs, square pegs. Square, square pegs

Really funny - who broke the π button on my calculator?
May you be eternally grounded.
Me? Get juiced with The Cool Patrol?
Uh . . . no thanks . . . Why do you think they call it beer?
I mean...listen to him!

Square pegs, square pegs. Square, square pegs

Ya know, our school colors should be black and blue.
Yeah. I mean no. Huh? What?
No. I don’t think I have a bad attitude. Why?
Suspended? Suspended for what?
But they told me it was Senior Wig Day!
Honest, I don’t even know how those worms got there.
Now, what would I do with 200 peanut butter cups?
One size does not fit all

Um.... there might be some disagreement here. While Facts of Life was a good show, Square Pegs was simply ahead of it's time. It garnered decent ratings in it's one season, the network it was on, however, didn't 'get' it. Hence, cancellation. Still a quality show with a terrific cast and brilliant writers.

That's a great song! The lyrics are so imaginative too.

ehhhhh.......Facts of Life wins. The synopsis of Square Pegs isn't interesting enough for me to want to take a second look.
