Anyone remember this case? I tried to search here but didnt' find anything. IT was a teenage boy, and they said he committed suicide. I don't remember exactly how but it was either hanging in a tree in his backyard or shotgun in his bedroom. Anyway, the mom said that someone had been calling her saying it wasn't a suicide, he was murdered. I think at some point someone dropped off an envelope at her door with information or pictures? Sorry to be so vague, I just have this jumbled up idea of a story profiled on there, and it could very well be two different stories combining in my head. Anyway, can anyone lead me in the direction of these types of stories? Thanks!

OK, I may have answered my own question as I kept searching. It could be Tommy Burkett. I am reading more about that case now. If there are any other similar cases you can think of, let me know. Thanks!

I believe you're thinking of Keith Warren. Very sad case. He was found hanging from a tree in a wooded area. He was wearing clothes that weren't his own. Someone dropped off police photographs Keith at his mother's house. His friend, who supposedly had information on Keith's death, died under mysterious circumstance. Does that sound familiar?

Yep, that definitely sounds like the Keith Warren case. I believe the kid that dropped off the photos knew who killed Keith and was about to tell on them and he got killed too.

Well, we have no idea who dropped those photos off. They had to come from inside the police department. Also, IRRC, the envelope with the photos came with a threatening note. I don't think the friend who died is the one who dropped off the photos.

I was looking for more info on Keith Warren and found this article posted here at this board and I'm a little confused. It says the envelope contained autopsy photos and then says that there was no autopsy performed? How sad that this investigation was botched. This is one case that always stuck with me even though I couldn't remember the exact details. UGH!! It's so frustrating that we'll never know!

Good eye, atomicfizz. That is definitely sloppy reporting. Here's what I think they probably meant (but I can't be totally sure): There were photos taken at medical examiner's office - that later showed up on Keith's family's doorstep - but no actual autopsy was ever performed. Bodies can go through the medical examiner's office and not be autopsied. I would think it is totally routine to do an autopsy on supposed suicide even if it wasn't suspicious, and why they wouldn't do it in this case is an important question to answer.
