I know Bookman was originally a guest star on GT, but I was watching episode, "The Rent Party" on DVD yesterday and the interactions between John Amos and Johnny Brown was awesome. Man, did those producers mess up when they fired Amos (his last appearance) If they hadn't fired him, and Bookman making more appearances on the next season, the show would have been prolonged. Bookman to be was that missing ingredient, to play off of Amos. That would have worked. But by the time Bookman was added, the show was dead and it was too late, and the Buffalo butt jokes got stale.

I agree...it was a real missed opportunity that they didn't have more scenes together.

John Amos' firing was the BIGGEST mistake the producers ever made!

It was discovered he leaked what was going behind the scenes to the press after getting a raise so I guess lear had no choice but to fire him |

I don't care what the rationale was, it was still the BIGGEST mistake!
We should have seen the ENTIRE Evans family make it out of the ghetto....not by James going the way of the Pearly Gates. |

I liked the interaction between James and Bookman, Lear cheated us out of that. John may have leaked what went on behind the scenes but, he did what he thought was right. I would have also liked to see things going on with the whole family and not the JJ show.
