Default Site was down....

As many of you probably know, SO was down from Saturday night until early Monday morning. Just thought I'd let you know it was due to an explosion and fire at the data center that hosts the server in Houston. Apparently thousands of websites were affected but thankfully its back up now.

^ Was the fire started by the guy who owns the steakhouse next door?

Sorry couldn't resist.

"Look at it Omar! I said I'd do it!!!"

Thanks for the info. That is weird. Here I thought it was a problem on my end. Good to know I shouldn't have thrown out my laptop.

Darnit. You got to it before I did!

Yeah, I noticed that Websleuths and a couple other forums were down at the same time so I figured it must be a joint issue. Explosion, though...sheesh!

I can just hear Stack narrate this segment:

[Beginning of re-enactment]
Stack narration: It was Saturday night, May 31st, 2008 Houston, Texas. A man who we'll call "Jim" was a security guard at a major data collection center. He was performing his rounds, when around 10:45 he heard what he felt was the building shake. "Jim", investigated the part of the building where it came from and discovered a large fire. He then saw what appeared to be a Satanic symbol painted on the wall.

Stack (wearing shorts, t-shirt, and flip-flops in the warm Houston sun): What caused the sitcoms online board to crash on that warm night in May? This case has stumped the local Houston police.

"Jim" (in silhouette): Well I done heard the bulidin' shake an' I went to see what the heck was goin' on. When I got to the fire I seen that dang symbol painted on the wall there and it gave me a bad feelin'. That was when I called the police.

Detective: We were alerted to an explosion and subsequent fire at a data collection office. When we got to the location, we noticed signs of an accelerant, saw an empty canister laying nearby, and were unable to determine what the accelerant was. We were then puzzled by the Satanic symbol on the wall and still don't know if that were done to throw us off or was legitimate.

Stack: This was a perplexing case which investigators were unable to solve. There are some nagging questions that still plague them. Who wanted to destroy the data center? And hahwhy? And was the Satanic symbol painting on the wall the work of a Satanic cult? Most baffling of all, what was the unknown accelerant used which caused the explosion?

In a chilling footnote to the case, a letter was sent to detectives at the Houston Police Department claiming responsibility, threatening to blow up another target, and praising "The Almighty Satan". Detectives were unable to find any latent prints, hair, or fiber from the letter or envelope it was sent in.

If you have any information, call the Houston Police Department, or your local police agency.

Fantastic.

I tell ya, I think the Darlie camp (Darlie Routier) was behind this. I mean, they live in Texas don't they? They got tired of us posters who know that Darlie is guilty of the crime of two murders!! They wanted to put an end to us posting abt it and informing others.

That certainly puts the Satanic cult theory to rest.
