Default The Strangers new movie

Anyone who saw the movie or preview

The masks the intruders are wearing did they look similar to the ones used in the segment with the girl who woke up with no memory with her hands duct taped together

who remembered parts of her ordeal every time she would suffer a seizure saying "i didn't let them in".

Stephanie i believe her name was

I'm going to see the movie soon. I've downloaded the excellent trailer on my computer. There's an entry on the film in Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_strangers

For all it's worth, someone has edited this. Last month, the wiki entry mentionned that this movie was based on the home invasion/murder cases of Jeffrey McDonald and Charles Manson.

I was surprised to see that they've removed the reference to Jeffrey McDonald, since.

I saw this movie last Friday and it started out pretty decent and then just got irritating. It says based on true events, but that is a lie. As for the masks looking similar to the ones in the Sarah Powell case, that is incorrect. They had a nylon stocking mask and a Freddie Kreuger mask. This is what the masks looked like that were used in the movie:

If it is based on the Sarah Powell version of events it must be a lie.

I think that The Strangers might possibly be based off of a story I saw on Dateline, about 5 friends (3 guys and 2 girls) who were sleeping in an apartment, and they woke up to find 2 men in their apartment, and the men tied everyone up, and forced the guys to do you-know-what to the girls while they watched, took 2 of the victims to an ATM and forced them to withdraw all their money, and then they took all 5 of them to a field and shot them in the back of the head, and one of the girls lived because the bullet bounced off a hair clip she was wearing. That is the one clue about this case that has always amazed me. I can't for the life of me remember these people's names, but I believe it happened in Kansas in the 2000's.

Dude, that's one of the sickest thing I've ever heard.
Yikes. I can't imagine going through that ordeal and surviving.
Have the perps been caught and sentenced?

The movie is inspired by the 1981 Keddie Murders. You can read about the case here: www.cabin28.com

Reginald & Jonathan Carr.

supersally, they were originally given the death penalty. Then the Kansas Supreme Court decided that was unconstitutional. One article said that was still in appeals.

That is an incredibly terrible crime. I think that life in prison is worse than the death penalty especially for people as young as the Carr brothers. However I dont think taxpayers should have to pay to keep the worthless scumbags alive.

This film really had nothing to do with that case apart from the home invasion.

Now that sounds very similar to the film.

Wow. That has got to be the most brutal and gratuitous murder I've ever read.

Every beat is senseless and heartbreaking. It almost feels like it's from a Hollywood movie.

Unbeleivable.

The two which amazed me when they received national and international play were the young man from Utah stabbed in the New York subway, and the Central Park jogger attack. I was amazed because I simply assumed such attacks occurred 10 or 20 times a day in New York and wondered why they were considered news.

Does anyone remember a home invasion described in a Sunday magazine supplement years ago? A mother and her four children were attacked--there was a father, but he must not have been home--by a group of teenagers, I think. They were laid out on the floor and all five shot. Only the mother survived. The victims were white and two of the children were hers, the other two were her husband's. Don't remember the race of the perpetrators but I think they were caught.

Here is another which received national attention: http://www.courttv.com/news/2007/080...jevsy_ctv.html
