Mr. Drummond threatened Willis and Arnold with a spanking more than once, but I don't remember him threatening Kimberly. Perhaps it was because she was older, but did it ever say if she got spanked as a younger kid?

He should have punished her for that stupid hitch-hiking stunt that got her and Arnold in trouble.

I don't know if it is a double standard. It was probably because Kimberly was older.

Exactly Solomon! She was too old to spank, but never too old to be punished. As long as she lived under daddy's roof, she could be punished.

It was more of Kimberly being his naturally and he showed more favortism. She wasn't one, but Drummond probably wanted her to be a daddy's girl.

Are you saying Drummond had no problem spanking Arnold or Willis because they were NOT his natural children?

That's the vibe I got sometimes. He wanted to ground the boys for "scaring" Cousin Mrtyle (Lawanda Page) but does nothing to Kimberly for lying about her age to an older man.

I guess regarding this topic, many will see it differently. I agree, Kimberly should have been punished somehow, certainly not a spanking.

Growing up my sister and I were never spanked. My older brother was on at least 3 occasions that I can recall. He deserved it. I also seen my half-brother get hit with the belt for back talking to my dad.

You don't back talk to DAD! When it came to me getting in trouble, my dad punished me with restrictions or taking something away, but I was never spanked.

yeah i noticed that a lot too. as 2 members put it, the hitchhiking incident, skiing trip, lying about her age, and lying to move in wit a boy, she should have recieved a slap or something..

Kimberly could definitely get away with murder. She got by with doing things that Willis and Arnold couldn't. Mr. Drummond hardly ever punished her. Kimberly was his pride and joy. She should definitely have been punished for lying about her age and going on a date with the older man. And, she also should have been punished for lying to her father about rooming with boys on that ski trip. Mr. Drummond would have come down hard on the boys for similar misbehavior. Kimberly was special for 3 reasons: she was the only girl, she was the oldest, and she was her father's only natural child. She even said about her father, "He's only been really, really mad at me once in my life". This was when she was 9 years old and left him buried in the sand and helpless all day long. She got spanked for that. Sounds like this was the only spanking she ever got. By the time of the ski incident and the date with the older man, she was too old to spank. But, Mr. Drummond should have grounded her big time!
