I miss ION reruns because... - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

As I have mentioned before, I stopped watching ION after they started with the popup ads.
I didn't watch any cable channel anymore because of, among other things, popup ads (This is TV, not a computer.), then ION came along.
It did the other annoying things "McCable" does - Cut out darn-near a 3rd of the episode, sped things up - but dangit, it was "Alice", so I thought this was great.
When they started with the popup ads - and for gosh sake, does Drew Carey own Ion?! - I decided I couldn't take anymore of this, and pretty-much "boycotted" Ion. Even if they were to show the "sexy DJ" episode, I figured I wouldn't be able to stand the popup ads getting in the way, so I just let it all go.
Now, I find out that Ion is no longer showing "Alice" - again - and also that they didn't show the "Nightbird" episode. Meaning I didn't miss much.
... or did I?
Now it's hitting my brain - dangit, I should've stuck around for all the things I missed, such as...
Alice and Martha Raye's infamous "Do You Think I'm Sexy" duet, which I already mentioned.
The episode where Belle tries to show Vera how to be sexy. If my memory isn't failing, I think there was some prime "VeraMania" stuff there. DANG, I woulda loved to see that again!
I have the "Alice" DVD, and I guess they showed the cabin fever episode. I can only imagine Ion speeding up that "Tummm, t-tum t-tummm" dance. I'm laughing just thinking about that one.
So maybe (although very arguably) there was something worth sticking around for.

I don't miss the reruns on ION because it never treated the show right anyway. It chopped the show up real bad, causing viewiers to miss important scenes. It never advertised the show, and it never showed the sitcom on Fridays. Alice deserves to be on a better network.

I think if a network is going to air a classic show, they should air it without making it look like crap. It is like they are telling us, "Take it or leave it."

That's the impression I got from ION about Alice anyway.

And that is not just Alice, but the other shows as well. I mean, why air a show (Drew Carey) 3 nights a week? WTF? Either air it 4-5 nights a week. I can understand wanting a Friday night movie to air but what gives with Thursdays? I still forget when Drew comes on. As a matter of fact I told myself, "Oh, Drew is on." I click on that channel and forget it is Friday night movies.

ION is a sorry cable network. They might as well show paid programming 24 hours a day.

I hear ya. There was a time most of their airtime was paid programming.

Actually ION is a sorry BROADCAST network. It just so happens that because most cable systems and satellite providers also air it, it seems like a cable channel. I miss the old early PAX days--when old shows aired from 11am til the primetime schedule started.

I don't remember PAX showing classic shows all day, at least my local one didn't. I only remember them showing infomercials during the day. Did ION speed up Alice alot? It didn't sound too bad to me, not as bad as when it aired on TNN (which really did speed it up a bit, using time compression)

The only Sitcoms PAX's aired was The Hogan Family at 3:00 pm Central Time and Dave's World at 3:30 pm Central Time.

PAX's national schedule started around 10 or 11am central when the network first started--it had a TV version of "Woman's Day" magazine, another magzine show called "Great Day America" and the rerun blocks that began with "Here's Lucy".
