Default Why did The Jeffersons cast get Teated Better Then The Cast Of Three's Company?

Most of you know that The Jeffersons Anf Three's Company had the Same Producers, Bernie West, Micheal Ross And Don Nichol. they pretty much produced those show a the same time since The Jeffersons and Three's company were on the air at the Pretty Much at same time. anyway the Three's Company Cast Never got Treated Right while The Jeffersosn cast always got along with them, i have heard some of the bad Things the Three's Company cast said about them while i have never heard any of The Jeffersons cast say anything bad, for example the Three's Company cast were never allowed to have any imput in the script and The Jeffersons were always allowed to have imput or share their opinion and when They told a Actor Of Three's Company they would add their idea it almost never made it but when a The Jeffersons Actor did it usully made. i may be reading to much in it but still The Jeffersons cast got the better treatment.
What do you think?

I don't know. Maybe the Jeffersons were less of a headache and had less egos. They didn't have a co-star that thought they were bigger than the show like Suzzane did with Three's Company. Sherman and Isabel carried the show and kept things going, where Suzzane was a distraction forcing changes.

Maybe because of what happened on Three's Company, other shows took note and learned from that fiasco.

Maybe because Norman Lear was involved with The Jeffersons. I don't know...they originally came from All in the Family and Carroll O'Connor had a big ego too but then he had a right to have one. He was the star.

The cast may have been treated better, but the CBS network didn't treat the Jeffersons show very well, they could have given them a final episode and didn't. The show was almost cancelled in '77 I believe. Three's Company had a final episode and John Ritter was given his own show, how could they not have been treated better? And what does race have anything to do with it?

The network should have told them they were getting canceled but I think the cast was in denial. I was a fan and I knew the show was ending by January 1985 after it was announced they moving up against The A-Team. The same thing happened with Alice but they were able to make a final episode.

Sherman said on that Behind the Jeffersons show that the cast found out after one of the cast member's family member called and asked if it was true they were being canceled. It was in the papers. They were totally in the dark and hurt abt that. I agree, that is no way to treat a cast who gave CBS such great ratings and had such a great following. Shame on CBS.

Kind of like Bill Cosby with ABC, Sherman is probably done with CBS forever-lol

CBS had a habit of doing that. I remember when they canceled Archie Bunker's Place. Now that one I was shocked over. I know Carroll O'Connor blasted CBS and vowed never to work with them again. Of course he later changed his mind when In the Heat of the Night moved over there. O'Connor was an icon at that network and CBS never bothered telling him his show was in trouble. It was actually still ranked in the top 25.

I don't think CBS ever really gave the Jeffersons the credit they deserved for being one of their top hit shows for so long. I think the cast probably thought they had survived low ratings once before and came out stronger than ever , that it could happen again. But it was an 11 year old show by then and wasn't as good as it once was. I remember reading an article about When Mike Evans was going to guest star. They were wondering if this would help the ratings . It didn't. As soon as I heard they were moving against the A-Team I knew it was over. Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley had already lost that battle and TAC was fighting a losing war against it as well. I watched the Jeffersons that year right up until they moved to Tuesdays but I was commited to TAC in that timeslot. I didn't have a VCR yet. I think they should have made a final episode just in case they were canceled because the writing was really on the wall by that time. But I do agree CBS should have made it official to them.

CBS doesn't treat their bread and butter period right. I remember them in the late eighties bumping Kate and Allie all over the place. That was a surprise hit for them in the mid 80s. By 88-89, it was moved to Saturday night, their lowest rated night back then. It was like they were trying to kill it before they could cancel it. CBS could have used that sitcom to last longer considering back then ABC and NBC had all the good youthful sitcoms on that were hits.

Touched by an Angel was another primary example of that.

Most definitely. CBS owed the Jeffersons and the fans something in return. Shame on CBS!

Yeah, I basically agree. It's like with anything in life...have you ever liked two people who didn't like each other? I have and it's hard to explain why this happens. I think it just has something to do with first impressions--you can get off on the wrong foot with someone and it just changes your approach to them. This may have been what happened with certain people in the Three's Company camp. I don't know for sure, of course, just offering a possibility.

The only person on Three's Company who had an inflated ego was Suzanne Somers. Thanks to her husband and her being naive, she thought TC would flounder without her. WRONG!!!!! TC moved along brilliantly without the "supposed star of the show."
