Congrats.

Not to be an ass or anything, though, if you graduated 12th grade in 1998, wouldn't it mean you graduated kindergarten in 1986, not 1985?

She had to stay behind one more year in grade school (I think). So she started kindergarten in 1984 instead of 1985.

Oh, I see now. Sorry about that

Once again, congrats, y'all. I'm ten years away from being where you are and I'm already trying to think of excuses to miss the reunion.

Cool

YES!! My high school graduation was June 7, 1998 at the Palace Theatre in downtown Cleveland. My 10-year reunion will be held at the end of July (and yes, I plan on going!).

I think it's the 15th here. Unfortunately for some kids who just barely make the cut-off (like their birthday is the 12th or something), they are often a little behind some of the other kids in class.

I graduated Kindergarten in 1985. I was born in '78. Because my birthday is after the September 1st deadline I started Kindergarten in 1984 instead of 1983. Also, I was in first grade for two years (1985-1987) instead of one year because I have poor vision and the teacher I had during my first year of first grade wouldn't make materials accessible to me, ie: larger print. The September 1st deadline requires that a child be five years old before September 1st in order to begin Kindergarten that year. It may vary in other states.
The cutoff in Ohio is in August or September - at least it was when I was in school, I'm not sure how it works now. I started kindergarten in August 1984, but I didn't turn 5 for another month, so I was the youngest in the class. I was a bit of a hyper kid and had trouble paying attention, so the teacher recommended that I stay behind instead of moving on to first grade in 1985. So I then became the oldest when I was in kindergarten the second time. Had I gone on to first grade in 1985, I would've graduated from H.S. in 1997. But things always turn out like they're supposed to, so I'm OK with it.

Ah, I see. Here, the cut-off is October 1, so if you're born September 30, you'll be in one grade, but if you're born October 1, you'd be in the grade below. That is why there were 4 year olds in my kindergarten class for a couple of weeks, then 6 year olds started sprouting up too. I just there with my 5 year old self wondering why I couldn't be special lol

And to be honest, I have every intent on going to the reunions. I guess I'm really just trying to see how I can become this incredible person for all to be jealous of over the next decade. I want to piss the valedictorians off just once!
