Default Jack and Janet

Didn't it seem that around Season 5 and 6 that Jack(John) and Janet(Joyce) took over much of the show?, i mean i know it was there show but i notice around Season 5 and 6 they started to have alot more Screne time and Jack started to have more stroies around him, as well as Janet she also started to get alot more stories that were built around her and when stories were't about her and were about The other she had alot more to do with there story. what i am trying to stay is seem that Jack and Janet were treated Much more Like a Lead characters while Terri was Mostly/ Sometimes in The Supporting Role in those last few years of the show.

I see what you're saying. Personally, I've always liked Janet but too many plots seemed to revolve around her and Jack. I guess it could be since they were the originals.

I'm certain a lot of the tilt towards Jack & Janet had to do with the entire mess with Suzanne,as well as their having swept the Ropers away & somehow not feeling confident enough in Don or Priscilla carrying the bulk of a storyline. They were nervous when the ratings got wobbly with Jennilee,so they leaned harder on John & Joyce's shoulders. And when you look at episodes like"Janet's Secret"&"Some Of That Jazz",it had the effect of some fans clamoring for Jack & Janet to tie the knot. And that of course set the stage for the final three shows &"Three's a Crowd"to get an icy reception by longtime fans. There was a sense of,"You turned your back on Joyce,we're turning ours on Mary(Cadorette,or"Vicky").How do you like that?"

I agree that that a lot of the epidsodes from seasons 5-8 were about Jack and Janet. But I don't think that the producers had no choice with Chrissy gone. I think Jenilee and Priscilla did their best but they weren't as funny like Suzanne. So the Producers didn't do a lot of episodes with them as the main focus.

If you look at the very earliest setup, back in Season One, it's almost as though there's sort of a triangle beginning to form: Jack drools at Chrissy, Janet yearns for Jack (sort of, despite herself). Then that whole line gets dropped in Season 2, and then through Season 4/5 it's more and more and more Chrissy. And then Chrissy goes poof, and it's back to J&J, except that it's all doomed NEVER to happen -- and then the end...

But the very best episodes of all tend to mix in everyone as equally as possible. Like "Out on a limb".... My favorite --- and I think it was either the lowest or the second-lowest rated one.... 50th place, 11.1 rating...
