I think this has happened to every actor out there.
Now these are just opinions. There might be a movie that you might actually like that somebody else will think is terrible. Same goes for the actor. I can't help thinking of "Ishtar". I haven't even seen the whole thing, I didn't need to!! Dustin Hoffman is one of my favorite actors, too!! |

The films of Uwe Boll immediatly jump inot my head when i think of bad movies with good actors.
German director Uwe Boll IMO is the Ed Wood of the modern era. His movies are usually based on video games, and they are terrible. Yet, you look at his cast lists, and there are some pretty talented actors and actresses who are eaither desperate for a paycheck or Boll himself has some incriminating photos they are trying to get back. Look at the cast list from one of his recent films. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460780/ Lots of folks who have done much better movies.

Johnny Depp in The Libertine.
His acting was perfect and I love that Johnny but the movie overall (IMO) wasn't that great.

On the subject of bad movies, Humphrey Bogart had this to say: "I
don't give a damn about the industry. If they go broke, I don't give a damn. I don't hurt the industry. The industry hurts itself--as if General Motors deliberately put out a bad car." And John Wayne once remarked: "I've been in more bad pictures than just about anyone in the business." [It goes without saying that they also appeared in several great pictures ... and when an actor has appeared in as many films as they made, there are bound to be a few clunkers.] |
