Default Did they ever catch the Boston mall rapist?

He raped his victims on Dec 24, 1989, and Dec 27, 1989.

Does anyone know the statute of limitations on rape or if there is one?

I don't know, but the women should be able to administer punishment to that monster imho.

To my knowledge, he was never apprehended. I also seem to recall reading that no rapes have been attributed to this specific offender since the first time the show was broadcast.

This raises an interesting mystery in and of itself. Why did he stop? Perhaps he went to jail for another crime, died suddenly, or became otherwise incapacitated. It's also possible that he saw the UM segment and decided to hang it up entirely, or he relocated to another area to continue his crimes.

I don't remember this case at all. And since I live in Massachusetts I would think that I'd remember it if I did.

Anyone else have any other info on this case?

Like what mall?

Just curious....

Just do a search on here for Boston mall rapist. You'll find it. And on some other site we can't mention here, they have the segment.

FYI In the state of Massachusetts the statute of limitations is 15 years on sexual assault.

So then are these crimes unprosecutable at this point even if they did catch him?

They may be unfortunately.....unless there is a loophole that a more litigious mind is aware of.

If the statue of limitations expired, and I'm sure it did, then unfortunately, even if the SOB is caught for the Boston rapes, nothing can be done but a civil suit by the vics. There is no way this dude stopped after Boston. Either he changed his city of choice, became disabled (hopefully maimed in the groin area), went to jail, and or died.

He could have changed anytime he felt like it.

The segment (from what I remember) mentioned that he always stuck to malls that were easily accessible from the Interstate.

All he had to do was change Interstate or state and continue his activities.

Not as easy as it sounds. Remember like anyone else he probably has a job an other responsibilities. He can;t go too far.

The police probably have the feelers for other rapes. Any serial rapist that occured in another jurisdiction would be referenced to these rapes.

Difficult to say, obviously the re-enactments didn't go into those details...

The actor in the re-enactment though looked totally different to the sketch which was odd.

It's hard to make a comparison, but the actor looked extremely cold and heartless but also looked like he was a businessman and UM mentioned the suspect always was well dressed in fancy suits. If he was a businessman it may not have been so difficult to move state and work elsewhere (if he did actually have a job). The videos mentioned when the guy got into the store he was looking clothing for his wife, this may have been true or he simply made it up, but I find it hard to believe that guy was married.

I know the actor and the sketch don't match, but the behaviours of the actor seems to depict a man who is probably single, or if he is at all married looks like he would possibly also beats his wife and kids - he doesn't seem like the married type.
