Default Will there ever be a REAL true story of the Jeffersons that can answer questions like

Why was Janet Dubios chosen to sing the Jeffersons Theme Song? Who was she tight with that was involed with the Jeffersons that gave her that opportunity?

Why a different Alan was chosen in 1978?

How was the nickname "weezie" created?

Why was the APT building in the opening credits chosen out of all the other high rise buildings in Manhattan?

How did the dancing of the George Jefferson character come into play when he didn;t dance at all on All in the Family??

Just things I would like to know one day-lol and please don't try to answer these questions without a source. It's a thread for everyone to share what they would like to know and maybe we can help each other out.

Well weezie is short for louise, and the reason George didn't do his dance on All in the family was because he only slow danced on there once.

Now the other questions, I have no idea. I'll have to look up the ja'net one.

Because the producers/writers didn't give the George character an opportunity to do a fast dance.

I wonder how that all came abt. Did Sherman do the dance behind the scenes and someone thought, "Hey, that is great. Let's write it into the show."

Yeah where did the idea for him to start SLIDING around come from? You think it came from his appearance on Tony Orlando and Dawn in 75?-lol

Ahhh, good question. That might be it. Like I said, it might be as simple as him dancing, someone saw it (producer or a writer) and the idea hit them to incorporate it into the show/character.

No he didn't. And that was one of the great things abt Sherman/George, watching him dance. It was almost like George cutting down on the word HONKEY, it eventually was cut out. Obviously because Sherman was not happy with saying it anymore, right?

Sherman felt that the George character would have progressed and viewed Tom more and more as a friend, therefore friends don't call other friends racial slurs. Too bad other sitcoms didn't have that sort of character development and growth.

The word was making a lot of viewers upset and they decided to do away with it in 1982

Yes, when he was on The Jeffersons he wasn't in their house very long. The only time that he was in the Bunkers house for a long period of time, was when Archie was gone out of town and they had Lousie and George slow dancing together.
