"Best Animated Show????" - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Who here think that this is bull? I mean, the Simpsons is one of the greatest shows ever, animated or not. It can't win all types of awards, it's not elegible for all kinds of honors.

I once heard an interview on Charlie Rose with Matt Stone and Trey Parker, who were saying how they never go to the Emmy nominations in person because the awards for animation are presented on "crap night" (i.e. along with best makeup, best costumes, and a bunch of other crud). They said it was ridiculous how "The Simpsons" were presented on crap night. Who thinks this should be changed?

Animation is not a genre, but for some reason most people still regard it as
such. If The Simpsons had been launched during the "golden days of
radio," it would have been regarded as a sitcom, pure and simple. And, if you
turn off the picture, you can still usually follow the plot. That's proof that
The Simpsons is, in fact, a sitcom (which just happens to be animated).
