In one episode, Jeannie seemed to know her birthdate. Then, they spent 4 episodes with a sub-plot where Tony and Roger were trying to find out when Jeannie was born. Supposedly her mother didn't remember. Finally, in the 4th episode, Roger revealed:
April 1st, 64 BC. |

So, in 1965, she was 2,029 years old. The gal really looked good for her age!

I found the date on another site (I don't remember where --- TTVS, I think) and it said she was born in Baghdad, Iraq --- she didn't seem like an Iraqi native, did she?

She is not a human Iraq person but a geni iraqi. Her dad may have been more like iraquis but keep in mind it was iraq of over 2080 years ago and may have looked different. Her mom seemed caucasian

Miss Eden has said it best in that Jeannie was a puff of smoke who didn't KNOW she was a puff of smoke but was a mischievous two-year-old who ran the show. In other words, not only was age not really a number but they couldn't even find the phone book!

In the 1st season episode, "G.I. Jeannie" during the interview to fill out her entrance forms, she stated her birth-date without the least bit of hesitation (just as any of us would do when asked the same question):
July 1st, 21 BC I always preferred that one, both for the fact that she was sure of it, and that the April 1st version was presented like more of a joke. Sure, the show isn't real, but giving us April 1st as her birthday was a dumb idea to me. Plus, the history of April 1st doesn't go back as far as 64 BC. The earliest year I can find is 1392, from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. So, the significance of it wouldn't start for over fourteen hundred years, making it an un/happy accident. There's more birth-date information in some of the other episodes, such as "Never Try to Outsmart A Genie." Birthplace: Babylon. Which is odd as Babylon was abandoned in 141 BC. We just have to accept that things in/on Jeannie's Earth weren't the same as ours. |
