This post is for fans of the one season wonder show MY LIVING DOLL starring Julie Newmar.I was looking thru the eps.guide for the show on tv.com and was surprised to see William Frawley best known as Fred Mertz on I Love Lucy made a guest appearance on the show in Dec.1964.The reason I was surprised at this was because at the time Frawley was playing the boys grandfather Bub on My 3 Sons and was forced off the show 1/2 way thru the '64-'65 season due to health problems and the fact that the studio couldn't get insurance on him.So I'm wondering why another series would take a chance on having Frawley on their show due to his ill health and uninsurability.Seeing this eps.aired in Dec.1964 about a month before his final My 3 Sons app.was rather intrigueing.I wonder if guest stars were covered differently for insurance than cast members.Any thoughts on this?

It may have aired in Dec, 1964 but it's possible that episode of My Living Doll was produced before he was forced off My Three Sons.

Hi this post concerns My 3 Sons Bill Frawley aka Fred Mertz and of course Bub on My 3 Sons. Most m3s fans know that Frawley was forced off the show 1/2 way thru the 5th season '64-'65 due to health problems and the fact that Desilu studios could no longer insure him.So I was very surprised while looking thru the eps.guide for the one hit wonder sitcom MY LIVING DOLL that Frawley made a guest appearance on the show as a policeman in Dec.1964 about a month before his final m3s appearance.Given Frawley's ill health at the time and his uninsurability I'm surprised that another show would let him make a guest appearance.I know he made a cameo appearance on The Lucy Show the next year, but perhaps cameos weren't that much of a risk, insurance wise.Any thoughts on this?

I've often wondered if actors got paid for cameos like that. I understand that the tv series Batman from the 60's had several cameos and none of the actors appearing in those cameos got paid. Those are the ones where Batman & Robin are climbing up the side of a building and someone (usually a celebrity) will stick their head out the window and make some kind of one-liner type comment.

There are six episodes of this show in circulation. Sadly, not the one with
William Frawley. By the way, the missing episode in question is titled THE DOCTOR IS IN.... |
