NY Times - Upfronts: ‘Back to’ CBS? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Some TV types have a soft spot in their heart for “Back to You,” the Fox sitcom about the employees at a local television news station.

But the series, a good old-fashioned three-camera comedy starring Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton, as Pittsburgh anchors, never found its footing on Fox this season. On Friday news reports said that Fox had decided to cancel the show, and TV Week reported that 20th Century Fox was pitching the show to CBS.

In an unusually candid interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the executive producer of “Back to You,” Steven Levitan, said the show always belonged on another network.

“We’ve been on the wrong network from the start,” Mr. Levitan said. “We got talked into it. That was our blunder.” He called Fox “a network that appealed to a different kind of people than we’re aiming for.”

Perhaps CBS will comment on whether it is interested in the show at its upfront presentation on Wednesday.
