Default Affleck hated J-Lo Video

By WENN world entertainment news - Monday, May 12 01:50 pm

Hollywood actor Ben Affleck regrets starring in ex-fiancee Jennifer Lopez's music video - because it nearly ruined his career.

Affleck, 35, began dating the Latina singer in 2002 and later that year, he made a cameo in her music video Jenny From The Block. In the promo, the actor can be seen rubbing sun tan lotion onto Lopez's bottom.

In the following years, the couple's high-profile romance proceeded to cross over from the tabloids onto the big screen, culminating in the 2003 box office flop Gigli.

And the Pearl Harbor star is now convinced bringing his personal life into the spotlight was damaging to his career.

He says, "If I have a big regret, it was doing the music video. But that happened years ago. I've moved on."

But Affleck insists he isn't blaming Lopez for his career nosedive: "It not only makes me look like a petulant fool (to blame Lopez), but it surely qualifies as ungentlemanly? For the record, did she hurt my career? No."

The pair became engaged in 2002 but called off their relationship in 2003.

cannot say the same thing about the song itself either - as that was just god awful

Clearly he hasn't since he's still talking about it.

He's married to the beautful Jennifer Garner and has a healthy baby and yet...he obsesses about the J.Lo years. The thing that hurt Ben Affleck's career is his lack of acting ability - that much he still shares with J.Lo.

He should at least publicly be a gentleman and not go on about the past.

i'm with you on this. he shouldn't keep dwelling on the past. frankly who cares? what's done is done and yet he keeps obsessing over j-lo. he has a beautiful wife and baby to love and care for, and so he should focus on what he already has- not what he hasn't got.

although he and j-lo never looked convincing as a couple when they were together. that's just my opinion

^ I never thought they were the least bit convincing as a couple. I also don't think much of Ben as an actor, although he was very funny in a supporting role in Shakespeare In Love. Just goes to show that Matt Damon got the acting talent in that duo - and made much better career choices.

i just didn't buy into that relationship one bit. i thought that the main reason why ben went out with jennifer lopez was because at that time, she was big and she was releasing records and acting in films, whilst his career was fading away (and is still is to this day) and yet he went out with her for the media exposure and to give extra media coverage to jennifer, thus it was a big boost to her career

It was just pure hot monkey lust, that's all it was.

I forget who it was, I think it was Julia Roberts, who said that making a movie is like going away to summer camp. You're all excited to be going there, you meet someone who excites you, you have a little fling and a few months later, it's all over and everyone goes home. Pretty apt analogy for many of the actors who have on-set flings.

Ben and J.Blo's lasted slightly longer, but it's probably just as well they didn't marry. She's shown more class than he has post-breakup.

personally, i don't find ben that attractive; he's just not my type. i think the reason why he is getting all this flak is not because he is a crap actor although one would argue- i think he can act, its just that almost all the films he has appeared in are crap. gigli, jersey girl, dare devil, pearl harbor to name but many. his relationship with j-lo was purely to sell records and that annoying song 'jenny from the block'

at the monkey lust bit! i cannot imagine them as a married couple, they just don't suit one another, which is why i was glad that their relationship had ended
