Hello.
Perhaps recently, if you enjoy The Andy Griffith Show and TVLAND, you have noticed that TVLAND has cut out the end credits of Andy and began to show stupid reality shows.
NO!
This just will not do.
Recently, on my Andy Forum: http://www.andygriffithshow.net/ a man by the name of Jim Shea has made a petition about this!

Here are helpful links:

What TVland does to edit or chop the shows it airs doesn't suprise me. They do this to other shows too. TVland is crap. All they care abt is their new original programming.

The best way to save Andy is for fans to buy the DVDs.

You said it Jude. Why bother watching programming on TVland? Why give them that satisfaction? How long Andy remains on TVland should be the next question. By then, the credits not showing won't even be the issue. Why bother abt credits NOT SHOWING when the real downfall of the channel is showing crappy reality shows and less classic tv? Someone's priorities are not straight here.

I gave up on TV land altogether about a year ago because of all the editing and their so-called reality shows. They insist their ratings are way up, I'm not believing it at all. This was a great channel in the mid to late 90's but it just keeps getting worse. I have got all the seasons of all the show I like and don't watch TV Land at all anymore. Now I do wish I got RTN network. Their lineup is good but I don't know how much they edit.

The copies RTN gets are straight from the Paramount library. For instance, Love, American Style are the syndicated copies from the '70s! They still have the red Blue mountain logo at the end.

I keep waiting for TV Land to do away with the opening credits! or air some shortened version that TBS now does (that is so annoying)

I have to agree here. I have the complete series on dvd and watch it frequently. I don't even bother with TVLand anymore as it has gone down hill so much. I do understand though that not everyone can afford the dvd's though. So many channels are garbage now that used to be good it is pathetic.

I haven't watched TAGS on TV Wasteland in almost a year. Are you saying that they no longer show any credits at all? The last time I saw it, The credits were squashed to the side of the screen where you couldn't read them and some idiot was doing voiceovers. This has been the scenario for most if not all of their shows which is one reason I refuse to watch it. If the credits can't be seen as they were meant to then why bother?

There is probably a legal reason why the credits need to be shown, part of some contract I'd imagine.

But I still can't figure out why people want to see credits. In my youth, they showed the credits in full, and I always considered them boring and a waste of time.

I doubt there's any law that says the credits must be aired because the local channel here that has shown TAGS since 1960 also stopped running credits but not entirely. They decided to just use the same credits for each episode aired even if the guest stars from those credits didn't appear in the episode.

They also showed credits in full during my youth and the reason that I liked to read them was to see who the guest stars were on the show. This goes for movies and other shows as well especially if the cast isn't named at the beginning or if I happen to catch it somewhere in between. I can't tell you how many times I've waited for the end of a movie or tv show just to see who the guest stars were only to have some idiot squash the credits to where I couldn't read them.

As a youth, Reading the credits helped sparked my love for tv trivia which led to music which ultimately led to my addiction for playing radio contests so even though you don't care about credits, There are others that do and for various reasons.

What is RTN? Is that a Dish Channel or another new Cable Channel? What classic shows do they play?

RTN (Retro Television Network) Is an independent Network with affliliates in various cities across the U.S. The programming varies from station to station. I think Pav has a list somewhere around here. Perhaps someone can link you to it.

If Wikipedia is correct, RTN will be shown in that area starting in Sept on WREX. I don't put much trust in Wiki though.
