in the death or disappearance of his wife (a la Dennis DePue, Jule Caylor, Don Sherman, Leonard Rizzo, Steve Marfeo, Mike Morris, and many others)? He was interviewed by UM about the case and he had a beard (I believe he was redheaded), chipped front teeth, and these angry eyes who was professing his innocence, and the evidence lead to him but they didn't have enough solid evidence to charge him with. Does anyone remember this case?

I do, but I don't.
I do remember the person you are talking about but I can't remember his name or the victim's name. I can even picture him in my mind. The chipped teeth part is what jogged my memory. I'll try to think of it and browse the CD "Best of" DVD's to see if I can remember. |

No, definitely not Jeff Oberholtzer. I believe the case was shown on UM around the mid-90s, I think and the case itself (his wife's death or disappearance) took place in the late 80s to early 90s. The husband had this mean look to him and just seemed irritated throughout the whole interview.

No, definitely not him either. I was scanning through some older threads and I think it could be Mark Nichols. Does that sound right given the details I gave in the OP?

Could it have been the husband of Christi Nichols (I don't remember his first name), who disappeared in Nebraska?

Yeah, I'm thinking it was Mark Nichols after eliminating the other wife murderers that were interviewed on UM after doing a search through this forum. And Justin, did Mark have a beard in his family photo with Christi Ann and their kids and didn't have a beard in the UM interview? That might be where I could have been mistaken about Mark.
Heather just sent me volumes 1-3 of those UM compilations, so I'll know for sure pretty soon since the Christi Ann Nichols case is on the first disc. |

That's the segment titled Skull Duggery on the Bizarre Murders set. I can't recall the guy's name.

He did seem to match the description synthislab and he did seem the logical choice for murder even though he denied it. I thought the theory seemed very logical that the reason he ended up putting her skull in that public place was that he wanted to remarry and had to prove she was dead before he could do so.

No, it's not that case (Linda Sherman/Skull Duggery) either, but the circumstances of the cases are similar in that the both victims are about to finally leave their husbands after possessed, controlled, and abused by them, yet we are to believe that these women would leave their kids with the abusive father. Yeah, right. Who would do that?
The other similarities in those two cases is that wife was last seen with the husband, the husband had the motive and opportunity to murder their wife, and they both allow themselves to be interviewed by UM. |
