Well, I am not Kermit, but I try. I give our aluminum cans and plastics to our neighbor who cashes them in. I hate when I hear the water running when Raymond is shaving or brushing his teeth. I keep telling him there is no need for the water to be running! I use the washer and dryer late in the afternoon or sometimes in the evening. They say it is better to use them late in the day.

i used to didn't believe in Globul Warming. i thought that was something the left came up to scare the heck out of us all. but i realized how crazy the weather is. last year, i was wearing a short sleeve and pants outside and it was DECEMBER!!! So, i have changed my mind and have figured out GW is real. but i'm not radical about it. i don't cut my showers or anything of that nature. to tell the truth, i haven't done anything, tho i know i should.

I recycle a lot. I hate it when people don't care if they throw away pop cans or newspapers. It's so easy to recycle those! You even get 5 cents a pop can here. They come and pick up recyclables from the curb like the garbageman does. It's so easy!! So I don't know why people can't do it. The school I work at doesn't and it makes me sick; it doesn't teach the kids how important it is to recycle paper. I try to even by things at the store that can be recycled. I switched from taking juice boxes to work to buying juice in plastic bottles. I noticed that the bottle of Suave body wash I had was a #5, which isn't recycleable, so I may not ever buy that again (though they did take the bottle with the other stuff in the bin).

I recycle, I've stopped buying bottled water and now just use purified/filtered water at home and pour it into a glass pitcher (since I've read plastic is toxic to your health) and also a glass bottle for when I'm going out (looks just like a regular water bottle only it's glass), I make sure the water is turned off when brushing my teeth etc. I'm getting better about turning things off and unplugging them when I'm done using them.

The only thing I won't change is the length of time I shower. I take about a 30-40 minute shower-always have and I'm not changing that. I honestly don't know how some of these people (mostly celebs) can claim to only take 3-5 minute showers?!?! How does one (especially a woman) get everything clean and done!

Oh and my SUV. I wouldn't get rid of that.

Basically I try to balance the good and bad.

This going green nonsence has turned into a cult! It is everywhere! At baseball games they have the team whereing green in observation of Earth day. On TV shows it is stressed. On damn near every home make over show they have to make it a priority that they are using some sort of green material! ENOUGH! When someone can actually show proof that man is causing harm then I'll take notice but getting a bunch of scientist together over a beer and have them come to an "agreement" without any solid proof is just pandering to the enviromentalist.

I know! It takes me at least 5 minutes just to shampoo and rinse my hair. I'd like a way to shut the water off when I wash my hair, but it's so inconvenient to turn the water back on and try to get it back to the right temp.

So true! I've honestly tried to take a fast shower and even that took 15 minutes.

Yep, and you end up wasting more water anyway because you then have to let the water run until it warms up again. Eh, I figure I can just use the extra minutes from the people who only take 3-5 minute showers...it balances everything out...right?

Do what I do with the water warming up in the shower. Put a small bucket in there and while the water is warming up, the cold water that goes into the bucket, you use that to water your garden or plants. I would hate to see that water go to waste but it dawned on me I could use that water elsewhere.

I buy organic. I drink purified/filtered water, I carry a glass jar ( to refill my water bottle ) and stainless steel water bottle. I drive a gas efficient car. I recycle. I changed most of my lighting to CFL bulbs. I use a electric and reel mower. I buy EnergyStar products. I wash my clothes in cold water. I do take 5-6 minute shower's. I bring my own bags to the stores. I unplug appliances. But I've been doing most of this stuff for years.
