Yes, sadly they do. I would dare say that any cable network you see TBH on these days is going to show butchered episodes.

There is a very simple reason for that: commercials. When "The Beverly Hillbillies" originally aired, the cast did the commercials for the sponsor (at least for the first few years). Back then, commercials were only about 2 - 3 minutes long and the remaining 27 to 28 minutes was show.

Today, sitcoms run 22 minutes and the rest is an assortment of commercials from various sponsors/advertisers. So, they make the old shows fit to today's standards by shaving 5 - 6 minutes off the program. For the most part, it ruins the show.

This is exactly why DVD releases of these old shows are so popular and necessary nowadays.

It doesn't "ruin" anything. It only makes it shorter. It's not like they're cutting it down to four minute long episodes, I think that would "ruin" them.

I want to see the whole show, not extra senseless commercials. For me, it ruins it.

It's not hard to be satisfied with what you have. Just think of it this way:

"I would have preffered the full unedited shows. But I did not get those. Therefore, I will be satisfied with what I got."

There. You're happy, they're happy. Everybody's happy.

Why not take the path of most happiness instead of the path of complaining?
