Default "Runaway" & "New York, New York": some observations...

First, the obvious, both episodes dealt with the girls traveling into NYC and wound up encountering social injustices (prejudice, prostitution, poor treatment of people, ect.). But did anyone find it ironic that the "New York, New York" episode aired right after the "Runaway" episode, being that in the "Runaway" episode, Tootie was wining about the girls not taking her with them on their trip because she was too young, and then she got mugged and befriended the teenage prostitute and it ended on such a downer...then the next episode, "New York, New York", Blair and Jo are going to NYC to meet up with some old friends, and Jo acts like she hasn't been in New York in a long time, even though she was there in the "Runaway" episode. And, of course, they used pretty much the same diner set with a few minor changes. Also, in the "New York, New York" episode, is it me, or was the girl who played Deena Becker a really bad actress??? Or was that part of her character??? And did anyone else laugh when Blair dumped almost an entire jar of maynaise into the bowl when she was making tuna fish??? And in "Runaway", how on earth could a pimp and his "workers" be allowed into a public facility when it seems pretty obvious what they were doing???

I remember the audience kinda gasping when Blair licked some of the mayonnaise off of her finger. Ewwwwww uke:

The pimp and his girls were not told to leave the premises of the coffee shop because the owner/manager did not want any trouble. Or they did not care since they were customers too.

Yeah but the pimp wasn't doing anything wrong in the coffee shop. Besides, it seems most of the business came from the pimp and the girls that worked for him. That was a sleazy part of town. Businesses are not going to complain abt that.

call me naive, but they probably didn't know he was a pimp. and like Irene said, if they did, they didn't care. they wanted his $$$.
good observations, tho.

In the sleazy parts of town, businesses can't really complain, I mean, any customers are what keep them in business. It wasn't like the pimp was making the girls do anything in the coffee shop for everyone to see. We knew what they were, but they weren't doing anything different in the coffee shop but hanging around and having coffee. Remember how the waitress warned Tootie abt her friend. The waitress sure knew abt the pimp and the girls. She just kept out of their personal lives and served them.

No one said they were the same. Someone posted a topic abt two episodes, but they did not say they were the same.
