Default Here's Boomer - Never saw it, what did you think?

This one ran from 1980 to 1982 and featured a dog, I assume a cute doggy but thats all I can recall from the old show advertisements.

If you remember the program and have thoughts to share please do(Its a bit surprising this was on for 3 years yet no one I know has seen it??)

Here's Boomer was NBC's answer to Benji (who was then a very popular
movie star). I vaguely remember the show. It ran for two seasons. Boomer
was a homeless dog who helped people. A mixed-breed little stray, Boomer--
like Lassie and Rin Tin Tin before him--was an uncommonly intelligent dog.

According to The Complete Directory to Prime-Time Network & Cable TV
Shows
, the half-hour adventure series was supposed to return in the fall
of 1980 with a new gimmick--viewers could hear what he was thinking via an
off-screen voice (like Jackie Cooper's basset hound Cleo on The People's
Choice
back in the 1950s). But Boomer couldn't talk network executives
into renewing his series, and he was only heard on one episode.

I never saw the show, but Boomer did make a guest appearance on Pink Lady & Jeff. The dog was a better actor than the humans!!!

I barely remember that show. I watched one episode and that was enough.

I borrowed the PL&J DVD set from my then-boss, who hosted a pop culture radio show on the side. I watched all 6 episodes - I felt like I deserved an award!!!

Did the Disney channel ever show reruns of Boomer? I vaguely remember waching this, but I would have been 1 in 1980. I always thought I watched it on the Disney channel.

Okay, what Im gathering from everyone (BTW thanks for the comments ) is "Here's Boomer" was not Masterpiece Theatre but scored high enough on the cute scale to justify a search for old episodes.

Hmmmmm..Maybe I'll send a letter to Boomer at NBC and see if he can loan me his private collection of tapes.....hmmmmm.....the only problem with that is most dogs dont live to 35...darn!! now I'll have to think of something else.

In the meantime, Im gonna give "Here's Boomer" (a show Ive never seen) my highest rating...4 paws way up!! Im a sucker for any movie or tv show with doggies (except for Turner and Hooch. Hey Tom Hanks, what were you thinking??)

I am aware of this show, but never actually got to see it. I did recently watch the show intro on YouTube...

Also, I recently saw Arnold make a reference to this show on an old episode of Diff'rent Strokes.

I used to watch the reruns on The Disney Channel back in the 80's. I loved the theme song.
