I lived in Tolland, CT where she was kidnapped, it happened in the mid-seventies I believe. I just know when I moved there it was the local legend everyone was eager to tell newbies. She was elementary school age I think and went to ride her bike down the street she lived on (anthony road) before dinner then when her mother went to call her in she was nowhere to be found. They found her bike by the side of the road but no trace of her. when i was in school, i'd occasionally miss the bus and have to walk down anthony road and it was pretty spooky because Tolland is very rural and the houses are far apart from each other with just thick woods on each side of the road. I guess somewhere in the 80's or 90's they dug up a section of old cathole road (yes that's the actual name of it, oddly enough) based on a tip that she was buried there as it was once a wooded area but found nothing. in a weird twist the high school i gradauted from is on old cathole road and wes craven is filming his new horror movie 25/8 there. anyway, a local newspaper does an article once in a while on the anniversary of the crime and it mentioned um did a segment. has anyone seen it?

To my knowledge UM has never done a segment on the Pockett case. However this could be one of the many cases that a segment was only aired on NBC but lost to time when syndication began on "Lifetime".
The thing that makes me think the Pockett case probably wasn't featured on UM though is because as worthy as the case for a show like UM (having read about it on DOE NETWORK and elsewhere many times), the case is also older than a lot of the cases profiled on UM. Janice Pockett vanished in the early 70s - with UM debuting in the late 80s a lot of their cases that they profiled (with some exceptions) dated from the early 80s at the start of the series and then of course as time passed more current cases were profiled. That being said I wouldn't be surprised if this is another "lost" segment as the case is truly fascinating. |

Does anybody think Nathaniel Bar-Jonah killed her? He live 20 miles from her at the time she dissapeared. I guess we will never know though since he died in prison two weeks ago.

Yes I think he did . there are also accusations on the web that he practiced cannibalism and fed body parts to neighbors in meals.
