A Kirksville, Missouri man is facing charges of attempted stealing by deceit after he tried to buy a LCD television, valued at $517, for only $3.16 at a local Wal-Mart.

44-year old Reginald Newman had switched the UPC tags between a 26-inch Viore TV, listed at $517, and a $3.16 bottle of water. He then tried to buy the TV using the water's UPC tags claiming the TV's $3.16 price tag was correct.

Currently in custody at a detention center on a $10,000 cash bond, Newman faces a fine of up to $5000, seven years in prison, or any combination of fines and prison.

Who in their right mind is gonna let someone go thru Check out and purchase a TV for $3.16, without noticing the price? That guy is just plain stupid.

my aunt works at Wal-Mart and I showed her this. She simply said: 'some people will just try anything.' lol. ain't that the truth.
anyways: i wonder if they guy has something mentally wrong with him or he was drunk/on drugs. neither would surprise me.

Anyone who would do something so blantantly stupid is not playing with a full deck.
