After last night I agree with the article.
http://www.palmbeachpost.com/blogs/c...=blogs_tv_talk 'Lost' Recap: The Night Belongs To Big Ben If Michael Emerson wins a Best Supporting Actor Emmy, you could point to last night's deliciously intense Lost episode as to why. With those big ol' eyes of his, Michael could always say more with a lengthy stare than he could with 20 pages of dialogue. And Ben, the beat-up and bloodied leader of The Others, certainly had plenty to say and stare at as he, among other things, watched his daughter get shot to death, manipulated Sayid into becoming his own personal assassin, summoned His Smokeness to dispatch the mercenary dude who shot his daughter, (Whew! Let me take a breath for a moment. OK, I'm ready), nicely killed two armed guys on horses in the Saharan Desert like some badass Indiana Jones and threatened to kill Charles Widmore's daughter because the rich guy's mercenary dudes took out his kid. It would take many actors a season or two or three to play all that kind of juicy stuff, but Michael got to do it all in one action-packed, nugget-filled episode. Whether he was coolly walking into swanky London penthouse all 007-like (nice coat, by the way!) or popping his eyes out of his head in horror as his daughter was being gunned-down in cold blood or smiling creepily like Damien at the end of The Omen after cleverly tricking Syaid into working for him, Michael, once again, proved why he has become Lost's star as well as its heart and soul. That distinction once belonged to Matthew Fox. But, let's face it, Ben's know-it-all character is so much more interesting than Jack's Rambo-wannabe character. (I'm not hatin' on Jack, so no angry posts, please. I just dig big-eyed Ben more.) Last night I especially loved Ben's scene with the Scotch drinking Widmore (the always reliable Alan Dale, who seems to guest-star on just about every prime time drama). Widmore, not one to let bug-eyes scare him, hissed lines like, "I know you who are, boy and what you are!" Take that, Ben! The two men are clearly battling over the island like two schoolboys fighting over the hot new student. "That island's mine, Benjamin," Widmore barked. "It always was. It will be again." And an Emmy should belong to Michael Emerson. |

I agree, Emerson's performance was outstanding. His glaring eyes could put the fear of God into the Terminator, lol. That episode was the best I've seen in years. Wow, I was on the edge of my seat for the entire hour, especially when the smoke monster was summoned. Excellent, witty article Sonny, thanks for posting.

I agree I think last week's episode was the best so far. I can't wait to see how the season ends.

Great episode! I couldn't believe it when Ben told that man to go ahead & shoot her. And the man did! Holy cow, that was his daughter! Then he summons up that smoke monster and warns Locke & them not to get to close.
