Default In-Laws

In-Laws

Starring Shirley Knight and Polly Bergen as a pair of polar opposite mothers-in-law. Polly Bergen plays Nadine Greenwood, a long-time widow who's usually seen swigging cocktails or chain-smoking cigarettes while using her trashy vocabulary and enjoying going out bar-hopping with her equally man-hungry best friend, Helen Browner (Cloris Leachman). Shirley Knight plays Kathy Nolan, a long-time happily married wife and mother who is extremely domestic and too organized even for her good, and enjoys being the Co-President of her Ladies Club along with her husband, Jack (Fred Willard)'s long-time divorced sister, Elaine (Dixie Carter)-who happens to be Kathy's equally-ritzy and semi-snobby best friend (and sister-in-law). The reason behind how polar opposites, Nadine and Kathy, have become each other's acquaintances is because of Nadine's son, Mike (Christopher Titus) marrying Kathy's daughter, Jamie (Jenna Elfman). Watch how Nadine and Kathy buttheads and disagree over almost everything, except for their love for their new unborn grandchild after Jamie and Mike give their mothers the shockingly happy news. However, Mike and Jamie give their moms an ultimatum: they have nine months to get along and form a friendship before the baby comes or they won't be able to visit the baby when born. Nadine and Kathy try their best to put their differences aside, work out their differences and become friends even if its painfully awkward for the both of them.

Cast of Characters:
Polly Bergen as Nadine Greenwood
Shirley Knight as Kathy Nolan
Christopher Titus as Mike Greenwood
Jenna Elfman as Jamie Nolan-Greenwood
Fred Willard as Jack Nolan
Cloris Leachman as Helen Browner
Dixie Carter as Elaine Nolan

Default Additions to the Cast

"In-Laws"

This sitcom will have many guest stars popping in throughout each episode of the series. Such as the following:

Candice Bergen playing Diane, the high-powered, down-to-business boss of Jamie's, who at first is very cold and harsh towards Jamie, which is just because Jamie reminds Diane of a younger version of herself around the office.

Bob Newhart and Rue McCalahan play Roger and Geri, the long-time neighbors and often-annoying friends of Jack and Kathy, who don't act their ages. Roger and Geri regularly attend romance classes with their quirky sex therapist, Rose (played by Jennifer Coolidge).

Markie Post plays Charlene, the hardworking, good-hearted secretary at Jack's real estate office of which Jack doesn't find the heart to tell her that he's retiring thus putting her out of a job--so he does all he can to find her a different, better-paying job at his long-time rival real estate company's office, lead by Frank (played by Eugene Levy).

Martin Mull plays John, the younger, less successful brother of Jack, who has always idolized his older brother, despite his jealousy of him and his success. John temporarily moves in with Jack and Kathy after his second wife, Nancy (played by Catherine O'Hara) kicks him out of their house and declares she wants a divorce--soon after John's business went bankrupt.

Megan Mullaly plays Kelly, the former high school sweetheart-turned-ex-girlfriend of Mike's, who has came back to town on a visit and bumps into Mike, and confesses her love for him still and tries to seduce her way back into Mike's life again--thus causing Jamie to change her original opinion about her.

Rachel Dratsch plays Cynthia, the slightly younger sister of Mike, who is now happily married to husband, Greg (played by Will Sasso) and desperately wants to have a child after hearing word from her mom about Mike and Jamie having a baby.

Molly Ringwald plays Meghan, the college best friend/roommate of Jamie's, who's recently moved back to town after a failed marriage and a falling out with her boss, and wanting a whole new fresh start back in her hometown, including continuing her friendship and bond with Jamie.

Dan Cortese plays Denny, the son of Helen and childhood best friend of Mike's, who has came out of the closet to everyone--including his ex-wife (causing their divorce), except Mike. Denny and Mike use to be inseparable, but now knowing Denny's gay--Mike finds himself put into awkward feeling when just him and Denny are alone.

Kathy Najimy plays Dr. Ellen Straton, the OBGYN who Jamie visits throughout her pregnancy, offers the expectant couple advice, and eventually helps deliver Jamie and Mike's baby when it's all said and done.

Betty White plays Nana Mary, the grandmother of Jamie and mother of Kathy, who is put into a nursing home after her mind went, thus causing Nana Mary to become a little loopy and "drunk" at times. Jamie loves her grandmother dearly (and vice versa), Nana Mary has always-liked, but quickly annoyed by her son-in-law Jack, and Kathy and her mom share a "different" mother-daughter relationship which stemmed from Kathy's childhood.
