I waz goin to post this eairler but forgot.I waz on the internet lookin up the orgin and meaning of names and whenever I looked up Jinny it said it waz short for Virgina which means virgin cause some ancient dude killed his daughter so she coulddie a virgin.Just thought this waz kinda funny.

Um...no. Her name is Jinny...just like some people have already said on this board...her name is Jinny. Yes. You know why? Look at her name plate thing on her desk. It says, "Jinny Exstead". So Jinny is not a nickname. Now look at CD's...it says, "Candace DeLorenzo". The usually don't put nicknames on there...so I am pretty sure her name is just Jinny.

Actually, "Love the Facts of Life" is prolly right. A lot of those name-meanings are short for something (like Jinny from Virginia) and that it is *derived* from what it is short for. In other words, even though Jinny's name isn't really Virginia, the *meaning* came from that, making "virgin" or whatever is was, what Jinny's name means. Did anyone understand that?

Well ya know it's not neccarrily true who ever said about "jinny has to be her real name cause that's what her name plate says" well my dad's real name is Zebedee but his name plate on his desk says "Scott" cause he doens't like his first name......so maybe Jinny just doesn't like Virgina. Anyway.....i think the character looks more like a Jinny than a Virgina anyway!
