Sorry if this has been discussed before -- I'd like a few episodes of WKRP and have looked at the vhs box sets on ebay.
Does anyone know if these video tapes have the original music?? Thanks. Lee |

I got mine in 2000 - it was the first official item of WKRP merchandise I ever got, followed by the WKRP book. I have a soft spot for this video set. I assume you mean the three-tape set?

Lester, welcome!
Yes, I saw the three-tape box set on ebay awhile back.. And I wondered if it was worth getting. |

Belated hello, folks. Re if the three-tape box set is worth getting; i'd say it's six of one, half a dozen of the other. At the time I got mine, DVDs were in their infancy, a new format, and so it could have gone either way as to whether or not they took off. The box set was the most recent release of WKRP on VHS, and still available. As such, I just had to get it. Reviews I've read seem to cite picture and sound as being poor, but the episodes looked all right to me, allowing for the fact that the music had been changed. I bought this item knowing that the music wasn't the original, and, IIRC, that some of the episodes were missing a minute or two here and there. For instance, in Hold-up, there is a scene where Herb walks into the booth looking smug (He doesn't know that Del's shop is being held up live on air!
) and Carlson tells Andy and Les "I want this man killed. I want it done slowly. That's how I want it." Carlson and Andy leave, Les looks at Herb witheringly and Herb looks puzzled. I guess the bottom line is that what I might like, someone else might not, but IMHO the box set is a nice little souvenir of our favourite radio station, and like I said, the first official item of WKRP merchandise I ever bought. |
