Default Housewives May Go 5 Years Into The Future

http://blogs.nypost.com/tv/archives/...ate_or_ge.html

Desperate or Genius? Marcia Spoils a "Housewives" Twist!

The "Desperate Housewives" as we know them todayFlashbacks have become a staple on "Desperate Housewives" where they are routinely used to explain the motivations behind some of the more bizarre behavior committed by the Wisteria women. But if Marcia Cross is to be believed, things are about to get seriously time-trippy around the neighborhood. Spoiler Alert... after the jump!

On Friday, Marcia brought her kickin’ post-baby body over to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show" where she talked babies, babies and more babies, but thankfully amid all the toddler talk, she was also able to deliver a bouncing bundle of spoilers!

Not only did Marcia confirm previous reports that the series would be jumping five years into the future during the closing minutes of the May 18 season finale, but that the show will be staying there, for good.

“That does happen," Marcia said, before adding, "I trust you all [the audience] will be able to follow along,” when Ellen asked if they would be employing on-screen pop up video hints like ABC does with repeats of “Lost,” another show on the network that has been playing with time travel lately. (What’s up with all the time shifts ABC? Is someone still crushin’ on Marty McFly?)

Although publicists for ABC will only admit that a flash-forward is just one of the possibilities floating around the writers room (another involves going back before Mary Alice killed herself and ending with the same gunshot that began the series), the mere suggestion of time travel would present some interesting problems for the show since Marcia’s character, Bree, just gave birth and Teri Hatcher’s character, Susan, is pregnant.

A five-year jump would require some pre-school aged kids to be cast and would force the series to bid adieu to Felicity Huffman’s cadre of children, who would all have gone through puberty by that point.

And that doesn't even begin to address the physical changes five years would inflict on Bree, Susan, Gaby and Lynette. Good thing those ladies have steered clear of the Botox, right Teri?

So what do you think? Would this bold move rejuvenate the series or do the words, “Jump” and “Shark” come to mind?

I don't know why Lynette's kids couldn't be there in five years . The four P named chidren and Tom's child could be early teens. Maybe no plots for them. By the way what has happened to Danelle. Is she away at school. Did they say where she is? I could see where Julie and the current teens in five years would either in college or on their own.

Call the Fonz, break out the waterskis, because there's a shark that needs jumping!

I don't really like the idea. I feel like the show is fine now and doesn't really need the time change to make it better. I don't really see what skipping to the future would accomplish, although I think going to the past could be interesting.
