Cool Flashdance: 25 Years Later

One of my all time favorite movies was released on April 15th 1983-Flashdance. The movie, which became a pop culture sensation, was the launching point for actress Jennifer Beals, director Adrian Lyne and producers Jerry Bruckheimer and the late Don Simpson. The bestselling soundtrack, also one of my all time favorites, featured the number #1 hits "Flashdance...What A Feeling" by Irene Cara and "Maniac" by Michael Sembello.

Movie

I wasn't too crazy about the movie but I do like most of the soundtrack. The only exception being Maniac, That song ranks among my worst of the 80's.

I've never seen the Movie either, but I did like the Soundtrack, especially "What A Feeling". That was a cool song.

You realize that this movie will be remade eventually.

Seriously, there is some producer working right now on a remake.

If some movie company doesn't annouce they are doing a remake within the next twelve months, I will never post here again.

Anyone want to bet?

Sad R.I.P Wayne "Frosty Freeze" Frost

Link

New York, NY (CNS) - Wayne "Frosty Freeze" Frost, a breakdancing pioneer who appeared with the legendary Rock Steady Crew in the 1983 movie "Flashdance" has died. He was 44.

Frost died Thursday at Mount Sinai Medical Center after a long illness, according to Jorge "Fabel" Pabon, a senior vice president of the crew were Frost helped pioneer complicated and daring dance moves. The dancers were also called b-boys, short for beat or break boys.

Frost was known for his energetic style, intricate choreography and fearless moves including back flips and head spins. One of his moves was even dubbed the "Suicide."

Frost got his start in 1978 with the Bronx-based Rock City Crew. In 1981, he became part of the Rock Steady Crew and they toured the world.

According to the Associated Press, Joseph Schloss, a visiting scholar in the music department at New York University said, "Frost's appearance with Rock Steady Crew in 'Flashdance' spread the breakdance phenomenon globally. He was one of the first B-boys that most people ever saw."

It's a great movie, Sonny. It is a great slice of 80's pop culture. Along with Scarface, I think Flashdance is the movie that most captures the 1980's.

One of the reasons I also love the movie is that I've always identified with Jennifer Beals's character. In many ways she is a female version of myself.
