It's being called the cinematic Super Bowl for women. And a little more than a month before Sex and the City: The Movie opens on May 30, mum's the word, mostly, for writer/director Michael Patrick King when it comes to discussing the big-screen continuation of the HBO series.
"The movie starts in a realistic way where the series left off," he says. "At the end of the series, Charlotte (Kristin Davis) had received photos of the Asian child they were going to adopt. Three years later, they have their daughter, Lily Goldenblatt. It's the perfect Charlotte name. She's a doll." As for the show's other mother, acerbic attorney Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), she's still trying to balance law and love. "She has a 5-year-old named Brady, played by the same boy as on the series. He looks exactly like Steve and Miranda, still," King says. "Miranda's life represents a lot of working women in New York. She lives in Brooklyn and has a blow-up pool." King understands the level of interest in the film and is pleased that so few spoilers have made it out. He says all the actresses, including Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, "are phenomenal." "I'm thrilled with it," he says. "The fans were in my head when I was writing it." http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/...the-city_N.htm |
