Default Best 80s pop legend

there is a music channel in the uk called the vault, which plays classic hits from the 80s, 90s and early 00s and they have been running a poll for best 80s legend. the choices are wham!, prince, madonna and michael jackson. the votes keep changing and so nothing is definite- although both prince and jacko are neck-in-neck with each other.

who's your 80s favourite from wham!, prince, madonna and michael jackson

I vote for Michael. No matter what he's doing now, his music and status from back then is amazing.

^ Agree, no matter what people say about him, he was untouchable back in the day.

No Tears for Fears on this poll? Tears for Fears was/is my favorite band from the 1980's.

I'll agree with 3 on that list being 80's legends but not Wham! They don't even belong in the same sentence as Prince, Madonna or MJ muchless the same poll.

I know I would have picked Huey Lewis and the News before I would have picked Wham!

Anyway, I prefer Prince, but I will pick Michael jackson. Man, growing up in the early mid-eighties, nothing achieved greater heights like Thriller did! Everyone was on the Michael Jackson bandwagon, everyone wore either the glove, the jacket, the pants, or all!

I will say that when Prince came out with "When Doves Cry" that alone took half of Michael Jackson fans away.

Oh yes! Thriller was off the charts! Everyone in my class wanted the jacket and gloves! It was like everything he did/touched, turned to gold in the 1980's.

I prefer Prince though, especially during his Purple Rain era, I was in love with him as a kid.

they were big during the 80s, although apparently the music station in the uk thought they weren't big enough to join madge, jacko, prince and wham! i loved 'everybody wants to rule the world', that's a great song

i was thinking the same thing. besides in US terms, george michael didn't become a big star until he had that duet with aretha on 'i knew you were waiting'. that track really opened doors for him in the States

Tears for Fears deserved a slot over Wham!, whom I never got, even back then until George went solo.

My favorite tunes of Tears for Fears weren't their top hits in America though, I prefered the b-sides.

Despite me being a rock fan, I'd go for Madonna

For me, it's a tossup between Billy Joel and Elton John. So (if the poll weren't
closed), I'd vote "Neither."
