For immediate release:
BIXBY EMMY HALL OF FAME CAMPAIGN SUBJECT OF WORLDWIDE RADIO PROGRAM “Eddie’s Father” star Brandon Cruz among those paying tribute to beloved actor/director/producer Television icon Bill Bixby, who graced the screens of millions of television households through his roles on The Courtship of Eddie’s Father, The Magician, The Incredible Hulk and other popular network shows throughout the 1970s and ’80s, will be the subject of the April 15 edition of Talking Television with Dave White, the popular radio program heard worldwide via Share-a-Vision Radio, KSAV.org. A three-time Emmy nominee who died of cancer in 1993, Bixby is the subject of a grassroots campaign to get him inducted into the ATAS Emmy Hall of Fame. Television historian and entertainment journalist Ed Robertson, who covered Bixby’s work in television for the trade publication Television Chronicles, will guest-host the webcast, which will be streamed live beginning at 10:30pm ET, 7:30pm PT at www.ksav.org. Scheduled guests include actor/musician Brandon Cruz, Bixby’s co-star on Eddie’s Father; Renee Tufo, who is spearheading the campaign for a Bixby induction into the Emmy Hall of Fame; and J. Kingston Pierce, senior editor of January Magazine, whose writings on Bixby include coverage of The Magician (NBC, 1973-1974), the popular Bixby series credited for triggering the current wave of stage magicians such as David Copperfield, Criss Angel and Penn & Teller. This will be the first appearance for all three guests on Talking Television, a popular radio call-in program that discusses television of all eras and genres. Featuring lively conversation with actors, writers, directors and other industry professionals, Talking Television originates from global radio station KSAV.org. Listeners are invited to participate in the program by calling (800) 407-KSAV or by emailing talk@ksav.org. The 90-minute webcast will be repeated on Thursday, April 17 beginning at 7:30pm ET, 4:30pm PT, also on KSAV.org, then subsequently available on demand via the archives pages at KSAV.org, as well as in podcast from via iTunes. The complete first two seasons of The Incredible Hulk (CBS, 1978-1982), the Bixby series based on the popular Marvel Comics Group character, are currently available on DVD; the third and fourth seasons are scheduled for release in June 2008. Talking Television is the franchise program for Share-a-Vision Radio, KSAV.org, an Internet radio station with a listener demographic of age 45 and older. Now in its third year, Talking Television recently paid tribute to such Baby Boomer icons as the late Suzanne Pleshette. Robertson, a regular guest host on Talking Television, is the author of several books on the television industry, including Thirty Years of The Rockford Files, a behind-the-scenes look at the award-winning, influential television detective series starring James Garner. |
