Chucky's shoes

Chucky's mom says she doesn't have time to buy Chucky new shoes because she had to take her husband to the airport. Now I know back then a lot of stores weren't open on Sundays so I guess she was stuck with Saturday, but why couldn't she just take Chucky after taking her husband to the airport?

This episode didn't make any sense to me at all... I mean Chucky just was a whiner... Sure things back then were safe and you trusted people but, I don't know why his mom didn't take him after she picked up her husband. Even though the boys never really had a chance to even tell his mom no...

I did think that Beaver should have let Chucky scream in the store too but then, I guess he was afraid to cause people would look at him..

This ep isn't much for continuity of the series, either. Am I mistaken, or weren't the Murdocks supposed to live right across the street, or at least very near the Cleavers in this ep? In a later ep, when Wally palms off his babysitting job for the Murdocks (assuming it's Chuckie) to Beaver, it proves to be Pat, a younger sister of Chuckie... they seemed to live further away [..possible..], and where was Pat in the shoes episode? If she was taken somewhere else, why not leave Chuckie there, too? Above all, as upset as Mrs. Murdock was with Wally for what happened, how did she ever let him become Chuckie's babysitter? BTW when "Mrs. Murdock" comes over, sneers at Wally for not taking Chuckie to the shoe store himself, and starts crying over what may have happened to Beaver... that has got to be the worst acting in the entire series, by any actor, child or adult. The scenario is dumb enough-- it's a really pushy mother who would do what she did, anyway; demanding that Wally take her kid to buy new shoes, not even giving him a choice about it, much less asking if he was available... yeah, bad ep in every way.

I know in the earlier episodes when they lived in their first house Chucky was right across the street, which is why Chucky always wandered over.

Yeah, continuity was always off when it came to Chucky and his family.

Granted Chucky may have been going through a bratty stage, but it just didn't seem like Chucky would act like that with Beaver...especially since Chucky had got so upset when he thought Beaver had turned into a rock in another ep.

I guess Beave was worried about being embarrassed if he let Chucky scream.

She dumps her kid off on a teenager at the very last minute(I guess Chucky only owned one pair of shoes and must have destroyed them between Friday and Saturday)and then gets upset when things didn't work out smoothly.

First off, what the heck was the urgency of the kid having the shoes that very day and at that very minute? And why should anyone put that on a neighbor even if she was to ask June to take her little hooligan to the store? I know neighbors were more involved in each others lives back then or so it seemed, but I think that was a little much since she and June didn't appear to be friends.
