UK version of 'Who's the Boss?'

to the US who's the boss fans, there was a british remake/version of this show entitled: 'the upper hand'. it was shown back in the early 90s in britain

unfortunately, people haven't posted clips of the show on you tube and as i wanted you guys to see for yourself how similar the upper hand and who's the boss? are to each other

Sadly the acting/casting in The Upper Hand was much weaker imo.

Joe Mcgann struggled to do comedy as he's more of a stage actor. Diana Weston's idea of being funny was shouting her lines. The kids were also not very good. Honor Blackman was the only cast member who was good in it.

I prefer Who's The Boss.

in fact, neither of the mcgann brothers were convincing in comedy roles. although i did recognise joe playing a scouser with the fake curly perm and moustache in harry enfield's television programme. i cannot remember the name of the guy he played though. honor blackman was by far the best out of the cast, although you could tell that from past experience, she knew how to deliver a performance in a mediocre written sitcom. despite the fact, that she'd never done comedy before.

i don't know whether it was the creators original intention to basically recreate a US show for us brits, or whether it was a show that was based on who's the boss.

although i cannot believe that 'the upper hand' lasted as long as 'who's the boss?'- apart from honor blackman's one-liners, the show was just unfunny to me. and although one could argue that british humour is different to american humour, the truth was that 'who's the boss?' had the better performances. plus, tony danza and judith light looked more convincing as a couple, in contrast to joe mcgann and diana weston

The only thing worse than an American remake of a British show is a British remake of an American show.

I've heard of it, never seen it, but I have heard of it. I was going to try and watch it, but at the time I couldn't find it and then I heard that it wasn't very good so I just gave up on it.
