Question kids!

this thread is mainly toward people who kids. I'm babysitting my little cousins for a few weeks because there mama's college was paying for her daycare. For reason, they dropped her.
I love my little cousins to death, but all they do is whine, cry, ect. Which is seriously making me think twice about having them. If I do, I will have one or there ages will be years apart.
My question: why did you have kids? u totally don't have to answer. just wondering. something to pass the time, i guess you could say.
for people who want kids: why do you want them?

i want kids because it they'll give me something to do (lol) and i like being active. also, i want my mom and dad to be grandparents.

I don't have kids yet but I definitely want them. I've always wanted 5 kids...who knows maybe more.
I've worked with babies, toddlers and kids all my life and I know it can be stressful at times but that's life and I love it

When I was younger I didn't want children. That all changed when I met my husband.

My son is 11 now and he is the love of my life. Other than my husband he is the favorite man in my life. I wouldn't change it for the world.

What a sweet post, Michelle. That video in your signature is so touching, and so true. I also LOVE your new screen name. Can I throw you any more compliments? lol.

Because I'd have someone that loved me. At least while they were little. Then they'd turn 12 and hate me. Nothing rewarding about raising teenagers.

I'd be a crappy mom though. Kids at school love me, so my own kids probably wouldn't. And I'd do something wrong, I'm sure. Too lenient, too harsh, something.

i absolutely adore children. they're so sweet & innocent.
i always love going to church because the kids are soooo amazing & wonderful. they always run up to me & hug me. just listening to them talk about coloring or candy, and not complaining about someone or the stress in their life, is so nice & relaxing.
it's definitely made me realize how much i do want kids in the future.
not too many though. three is fine by me.

i'm always hearing parents, especially my peers who have children, talk about how their kids are the sunshine of their lives and they love them more than words can say. i want that...
on the other hand...i'm so unstable, overly emotional and insecure, and having kids would probably add to that. i have an uncurable filthy mouth. my general interests/tastes in things aren't very child-friendly (death, depression, etc) and i wouldn't want to fill my kids' heads with that stuff so i would pretty much have no personality around them. sooooo boring.
i don't like the responsibility thing either. i plan on living alone and making just enough money to support myself, not having a professional career of any sort. i can do without the stress of worrying about being completely in charge of another person, financially and otherwise.
oh yeah, and life is painful and dangerous. honestly i think i'm being a good mom by not even bringing my children into existence. not worth it.
wouldn't happen anyway, i'm never getting married. ^_^

I have three beautiful daughters, a set of twin 11 year old girls and a six year old and they have changed my life in a whole new way. I would love to give my husband a son someday so we can complete our dream family, but we are happy with our girls.

I try to raise them the best way that I know how. I learned that from my parents, they did a good job with my brother and I. My girls are so smart and so talented, i'm so proud of them. I'm proud of them regardless!

My only regret though is that I wished my mother was alive to see her grandbabies.

I always wanted kids, and then when I was 14 my bro announced his girlfriend was pregnant and next thing I knew they were shakin up with us for the next two years. I love my niece to death, but she got under my skin so much when she was livin with us, now she's four and they live in NC so I only see her on Christmas and some in the summer and thats enough, hell now i get sick of her mother way before I'm sick of her. I think what it was when i was younger when she was born was the circumstance but at the same time i think if i have kids they'll be with me all the time. I also wonder if it was my age too, I've changed alot in the past four years. Anyway, if i have kids it'll be down the road a bit, I have some things I wanna do first. graduate high school, college, and hopefully start a career before the kids come along.

That's my feelings toward motherhood, but if I did have a kid, I'd love a daughter!

LOL!!! Thanks Janice! I love that video too!! I felt like it was time for a screen name change!!

the only thing I miss is seeing my dad watch my son grow up. He would have been a wonderful grandpa. Sadly, we lost him when Chris was only 3 months old, but I know that he is looking down from Heaven and smiling. Sometimes when Chris is acting up, like I know I did, he is laughing and saying "I always hoped that your kids would act just like you!" And he is!! LOL!!

Actually, I think that you would make a wonderful mother, Cathy. You are really good with kids.

I will probably be burdened with having to look after her forever. I know that makes me sound just horrible. I'd like to be able to live my life, visiting her, spending time with her, but not having to care for her 24/7. My mother will get older and her health will decline, unfortunately. Then the responsibility I already am saddled with will increase even more so. I wish that my sister would be able to live independently one day, but it's very unlikely with her conditions. It doesn't help that she's spoiled beyond belief. Trying to get her more self sufficent is a never ending battle. A 15 & 1/2 year old that throws temper tantrums is a very unpleasant sight. I've tried to no avail to break her of the infant and toddler behaviors that she exhibits, but nothing has worked.

Kids....
I'm sorry that your sister is such a handful, Jenny.

The fact that your niece got under your skin at age 14 I think is pretty normal, Meghan. You were just a child yourself. When you are older you will have a level of maturity that you never would have had at 14 that will help you deal with the kids. Mind you, I don't have any children, so this is all a guess.
