Cool Sky Angel's IPTV Service: Finally Something Worth Watching

2 weeks ago I signed up with this service and so far I've been very satisfied. Sky Angel currently offers 2 packages: The Faith package for $14.99 per month and The Family package for $19.99 per month. There's also a combo deal for $24.99. I currently subscribe to both but the Faith package is by far the best. This is mostly all religious type channels but they do air other programs as well. GTN (Guardian Television Network) is the best channel in the lineup. Their programs are aired uncut, in order and without ratings, logos, spilt screens or voiceovers. The only exception is Saved by the Bell which does have the Y17 rating but I'm reasonably sure that was already there and not added by Guardian. Here's the current GTN schedule: (Mon-Fri)

Dennis the Menace
Hazel
Lone Ranger
Daniel Boone
Magnum P.I.
Quincy M.E.
Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries
Dick Van Dyke Show
Saved By the Bell
Leave It to Beaver

I know some of these shows have been syndicated for years but when was the last time they aired the way they were meant to be seen? Another thing about GTN is that it's actually an ION affiliate based in Columbus, Ohio. Except for the religious programming, The local and national feeds vary. Here's a link to what the Columbus residents receive. I have no idea if these shows are uncut but considering that it's ION I seriously doubt it.

ION

These shows air on some of the other channels and are also uncut:

I Married Joan
The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet
Trouble with Father
You Bet Your Life
Meet Corliss Archer
Dusty's Trail
My Little Margie
Four Star Playhouse
Loretta Young Show
Life with Elizabeth
Shotgun Slade
The Adventures of Black Beauty
The Lucy Show
Davey and Goliath

Some have ratings & logos (depending on channel) but again no spilt screens or voiceovers. I'm also not sure if these are the complete runs or public domain episodes only. Some also air Mon-Fri and others air once-twice per-week

If you're not familair with IPTV service, It works through your high speed internet connection the same way Vonage does. If you already have a router then all you have to do is plug the receiver in and go. It should configure automatically. I had to buy and install the router but was up and running in less than 10 minutes

The video and sound quality are just as good as cable or satellite, Another feature I like is 48 hour rewind. If you miss a show just go back and watch it again. This feature is also great if you're recording a show and something goes wrong like a power failure. 48 hour rewind is only available for the Faith package only. None of the channels in the Family package would allow this service when contracted by Sky Angel

The only disadvantage is that it's currently not compatible with Tivo but it's my understanding that they're working on that

The link below will take you to Sky Angel's channel lineup, Chances are that you already have most of the channels in the Family package but most all of the channels in the Faith package are exclusive to Sky Angel.

Hey there, I have the IPTV box as well and considered getting TIVO since I got so used to recording with my DISH DVR and now I can't. I agree the 48 hour thing is great, but I'm not going back to tapes. Can you connect the IPTV output to the TIVO box and just hit record? Will it record the program onto the hard drive or does it (the TIVO box) have to recognize the Sky Angel IPTV service on their program guide?

I'll have to check out the no logos on the classic TV programs.
