You gotta love the writers when they mess up! Willona says her ex-husband's name was Alvin. But, when her ex husband shows up on screen, he is called Ray. There are so many other times the writers do something wrong, that I will just post one instance for now.

Like James, he was Henry on Good Times--his dad on Good Times was called Henry.

Jude the characters on Good Times and Maude were not the same. It was a error in the naming of the character for Good Times which always led to the confusion that Good Times was a spinoff but it really wasn't

I read in a 1974 ebony magazine where executive producer Alan Manings stated that GT wasn't really a spinoff. And that it's easy to connect the two shows because of the same last name. But one major hint that it wasn't a spinoff is the reason below

There was a error in the naming of the Good times character. She wasn't supposed to have the name Florida, her name was supposed to be different from her name on Maude, like how John amos character name was changed. Just never understood why they changed the husband name and not the wife

The name of her character was suppose to be Mattie Black. The original title of the show was "The Black Family". The name of the mother was the only named that changed. Due to her popularity on Maude, Norman Lear decided to cast her for the show using the Florida Evans name but not the character. I guess it was publicity to get people to watch the show.
