This show used to be in reruns years ago.

Tony played a widowed (?) judge with two kids. It was a mixture of a workplace comedy and a family comedy.

Randall's character was less uptight than Felix Unger, but there were similarities.

First ran on ABC, 1976-1977, then on CBS 1977-1978.
ABC wanted to renew the series but only for 13 episodes, while CBS offered a full season, so they went with CBS. Alas, it wasn't enough to keep Tony on longer. It's been so long since I've seen an episode, but I do remember liking it.

I do wish I had seen more of this show when it was in reruns.

I do remember seeing this show, but it was never the rerun staple that was The Odd Couple.

As i said in my previous post, I do remember Tony's character was not nearly as uptight/quirky as Felix Unger. I would love to see this show again to see the difference between the two characters.

This show is one reason we need a channel devoted to obscure/rare/short-lived series!

my neighborhood too, Solomon! (well, not my neighborhood per say, but I grew up nearby. In Levittown.

In fact; I remember watching the show with my father, brother, and sisters and we used to like to name all the location shots they showed in the opening.

I also remember seeing an article in the newspaper at the time, when they filmed all those "location" shots.

What was the name of the show where Tony Randall played a gay man? Sidney something?

Love Sidney...one of my favorite shows. It was hinted he was gay but it was never actually stated. It was more stated in season 2 however.

Thank you, Sonny. Wasn't Swoosie Kurtz on that show, too?
