Default ION expansion is a joke!

I tried to cut and paste a long well thought out essay I wrote about the ION schedule I wrote 2 years ago, which at the time didn't receive much feedback...I wrote about continuity....now you guys are finally realizing what I wrote is true.....Quantam Leap into Drew Carry.....again I have worked as a program scheduler in the televison industry for over 28 years and eagarly and supported ION from the beginning.....but as solomon says they did turn out to be the "INCREDIBLE ODD NETWORK", at the time I suggested the long lost "It's A Living" paired with "Alice" at the 6PM dinner hour where "The laughs could be served up comedy style", cheesy maybe, but fun.....a successful program schedule is about keeping the viewer and continuity...THEY FAILED OVER AND OVER AGAIN.....lastly as for the BIG recent anouncement of expanding after a 2 year wait.....they rountinely signed on at 5PM when they were PAX and ran Bonanza for years, so this is not anything new...expansion beginning at 1PM would ne news.....and the excuse about being contractually tied to informercials is also a joke, all contracts with infos last no more than a year and can usually be terminated with 30 days notice...they want the money, because believe it or not info's generate BIG BUCKS!

I will hang on with ION as long as Drew is there. When that leaves, so will I.

Hi Paul, nice to have your input on this matter that has angered so many. And when I write them an email, I get a stupid cheesy response back. Why did I bother?

Default ION expansion is a joke!

When ION pulled Perfect Strangers (after only a couple of weeks), I was really ticked off -- there's very little to like and watch on ION.

I don't know if it was ever released to the public (i.e. the people who run this fine board), but I spoke to some one at WHPX Channel 26 our local ION station in the Hartford, CT area and was told ION yanked Perfect Strangers because of poor ratings.

That's such a crappy decision on their part. That was on for two weeks. Whatever happened to giving a show a chance?

Well look at the mainstream networks ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX. They cancel brand new shows after one or two airings.

And that is the problem of why networks keep losing audience share--they are too trigger happy. They expect instant hit status out of everything they put on. I remember the good ole days when networks gave new shows at least 13 episodes to prove themselves. Heck, even in the '50s, shows often ran a full season before the plug was pulled. (Of course, there have been exceptions to this such as NBC canceling a show called Doc Corkle after just like 2 or 3 airings). Yea, Yea, yea, I know and understand about economics and investments needing to pay off......but when a peon network like ION can't even give Perfect Strangers at least one cycle, there is something seriously wrong. And just how much promotion did PS get? Not much, esp compared to the mammoth campaigns for Drew Carey Show and Baywatch.

I'm thinking the ratings for PS had to be really low to be pulled after two weeks. So I can undestand if something is not working then it has to go. But I would expect them to atleast try another slot before cancelling

Well Mama's Family must be doing great since it seems that has been on there for a long time and with the same time slot for a long period. When is Alice being yanked, waited so long for someone to put that show back on.

No stations seem to leave a show on long enough for an audience to find out about it. Two weeks is sometimes not enough time for a viewer to realize a show is being aired. It was months before I even knew that shoes were being shown, since I usually don't tune into channels that provide infomercials the majority of the time.

Well i think Mama's Family will continue to stick at that 8pm slot as long as it's continuing to pull in strong ratings. And 2 weeks is quick to get rid of a show but maybe it was ION that did a poor job in promoting Perfect strangers
